The Cleveland Cavaliers and the Washington Wizards duke it out at the Capital One Arena on Monday night.
The Cleveland Cavaliers have been building nicely as they’ve won five of their last eight games and they will be aiming for a third straight victory after routing the Pacers in a 122-103 road win last night. Darius Garland led the team with 24 points and six sasists, Isaac Okoro added 20 points on seven of nine shooting while Donovan Mitchell recovered from a slow start to finish with 19 points and six assists. As a team, the Cavaliers shot 52 percent from the field and 15 of 37 from the 3-point line as they took control of the contest with a 35-point explosion in the second quarter, before they restricted the Pacers to just 19 points in the fourth quarter to pull away and make it a blowout.
Meanwhile, the Washington Wizards look to have cooled off from their six-game win streak as they are now hoping to avoid a third straight defeat after falling painfully short to the shorthanded Nets in a 125-123 road loss on Saturday. Kristaps Porzingis led the team with 38 points on 11 of 20 shooting, Deni Avdija added 23 points off the bench while Monte Morris chipped in with 18 points and eight assists. As a team, the Wizards shot 48 percent from the field and 13 of 28 from the 3-point line as they stormed out of the gates with 44 points in the first quarter to build a 23-point lead, but they never put the Nets away and leaked 70 points in the second half to come up just short in the end.
Looking at the betting trends, the Cavaliers are 6-14-2 ATS in their last 22 road games, 5-11-1 ATS in their last 17 games playing on zero days rest and 5-1-1 ATS in their last seven games against a team with a losing record. The Wizards are 5-2 ATS in their last seven games playing on one days rest and 6-2 ATS in their last eight games overall.
Head to head, the under is 5-2 in the last seven meetings overall.
The Cavaliers could be shorthanded again as Caris LeVert is currently listed as day to day, while the Wizards have ruled out Kyle Kuzma and they are keeping an eye on Bradley Beal who is questionable for this one. The Cavaliers looked great in last night’s dominant win over the Pacers, but it’s always tough to win to two road games in two nights. I’m tempted to take the Cavaliers at the short line, but the Cavaliers are only 6-14-2 ATS in their last 22 road games, so I’ll lean towards the Wizards in an upset at home.
