The Washington Wizards and the Brooklyn Nets collide at the Barclays Center on Saturday night.
The Washington Wizards have been in fine form as they were on a six-game win streak before they had their momentum snapped by the Trail Blazers in a 124-116 loss last night. Bradley Beal led the team with 34 points on 14 of 25 shooting, Kristaps Porzingis added 32 points with eight rebounds and four assists while Kyle Kuzma chipped in with 12 points, 11 rebounds and six assists. As a team, the Wizards shot 50 percent from the field and 12 of 33 from the 3-point line as they set the tone with 69 points in the first half to lead by as many as 20 points, but they allowed the Trail Blazers to hang around and it cost them as they got outscored by 73-47 in the second half to suffer one of their worst losses of the season.
Meanwhile, the Brooklyn Nets have been in a real slump as they’ve lost seven of their last 11 games overall and they will be hoping to bounce back after getting embarrassed by the Celtics in a 139-96 road loss on Wednesday. Kyrie Irving led the team with 20 points on nine of 18 shooting, Cam Thomas added 19 points off the bench while Joe Harris chipped in with 12 points. As a team, the Nets shot just 40 percent from the field and nine of 39 from the 3-point line, but this game was over in the blink of an eye after the Nets got outscored by a ridiculous 46-16 in the first quarter.
Looking at the betting trends, the Wizards are 5-0 ATS in their last five road games, 8-3 ATS in their last 11 games against a team with a winning record and 41-17-2 ATS in their last 60 games playing on zero days’ rest. The Nets are 16-40-2 ATS in their last 58 home games, 2-5 ATS in their last seven games against a team with a losing record and 5-2 ATS in their last seven games overall.
Head to head, the Wizards are 1-4-2 ATS in the last seven meetings overall and the Wizards are 3-1-1 ATS in the last five meetings in Brooklyn.
The Wizards are again missing Anthony Gill, while the Nets are keeping an eye on Ben Simmons and TJ Warren who are both listed as questionable. The Wizards were in great shape before the ran into the streaking Trail Blazers last night, while the Nets have been mired in a slump, they just got blown out by the Celtics and they are now dealing with Kyrie Irving trade demands. It’s hard to split these two squads at the moment, but the Wizards are 8-3 ATS in their last 11 games against a team with a winning record and I think they can get it done against this stumbling Nets team.
