The Phoenix Suns and the Boston Celtics duke it out at the TD Garden on Friday night.
The Phoenix Suns have been in fine form as they’ve won six of their last eight games overall, but they will be hoping to bounce back in this one after getting thrashed by the Hawks in a 132-100 loss on Wednesday. Mikal Bridges led the team with 23 points and seven assists, DeAndre Ayton added 20 points while Dario Saric chipped in with 11 points off the bench. As a team, the Suns shot just 40 percent from the field and just four of 28 from the 3-point line as they leaked 40 points in the second quarter and things only got worse in the second half where they fell behind by as many as 43 points at one stage.
Meanwhile, the Boston Celtics have been in terrific form as they’ve won 11 of their last 14 games overall and they will be aiming for a third straight victory after making light work of the shorthanded Nets in a 139-96 home win on Wednesday. Jayson Tatum led the team with 31 points, nine rebounds and four assists, Jaylen Brown added 26 points while Derrick White tallied 14 points with 10 rebounds and five assists. As a team, the Celtics shot 57 percent from the field and a sizzling 26 of 54 from the 3-point line as they stormed out of the gates to an early 46-16 lead in the first quarter, which allowed them to cruise the rest of the way in their most dominant win of the season so far.
Looking at the betting trends, the Suns are 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games following a double-digit loss at home, 4-1 ATS in their last five games following a loss and 6-2 ATS in their last eight games overall. The Celtics are 2-5 ATS in their last seven home games, 12-5 ATS in their last 17 games following a win of more than 10 points and 1-6 ATS in their last seven games overall.
Head to head, the under is 4-1 in the last five meetings overall, the Suns are 10-4 ATS in the last 14 meetings overall and the Suns are 8-3 ATS in the last 11 meetings in Boston.
The Suns will be shorthanded again as Devin Booker, Cameron Payne and Landry Shamet are all out, while the Celtics are still missing Danilo Gallinari and Marcus Smart for this one. The Suns were on a nice run before they got stopped by the Hawks in an embarrassing loss on Wednesday, so they will be keen to atone for their mistakes with a better effort here, but it's going to be tough to slow down this Celtics team who just beat the Nets by 43 points at home. The Suns are 8-3 ATS in the last 11 meetings in Boston, but with the way these teams have been playing lately, I have to lean with the Celtics in this spot.
