The Portland Trail Blazers pay a visit to the FedExForum to battle the Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday night.
The Portland Trail Blazers have been in decent shape as they’ve won three of their past four games overall and they will be eager to stay hot after outlasting the Hawks in a 129-125 home win on Monday. Damian Lillard led the way with 42 points and six assists on 10 of 21 shooting, Jerami Grant added 22 points while Anfernee Simons chipped in with 21 points and seven assists. As a team, the Trail Blazers shot 54 percent from the field and 19 of 40 from the 3-point line as they squandered a 10-point fourth quarter lead, before they closed the final 34.1 seconds on an 8-4 run to pull away and escape with the narrow win in the end.
Meanwhile, the Memphis Grizzlies were able to put an end to a five-game slide on Sunday by beating the Pacers in a 112-100 home win. Jaren Jackson Jr. led the team with 28 points, eight rebounds and five blocks, Ja Morant racked up a triple-double of 27 points with 10 rebounds and 15 assists while Brandon Clarke chipped in with 13 points on five of five shooting. As a team, the Grizzlies shot 48 percent from the field and nine of 37 from the 3-point line as they got off to a slow start and trailed the Pacers by as many as 19 points in the first half, but they clamped down defensively and held the Pacers to just 38 points in the second half to run them down and make it look easy in the end.
Looking at the betting trends, the Trail Blazers are 0-8 ATS in their last eight road games, 2-7 ATS in their last nine games against a team with a winning record and 4-10 ATS in their last 14 games overall. The Grizzlies are 2-5 ATS in their last seven games against a team with a losing record, 36-14-1 ATS in their last 51 home games and 2-5 ATS in their last seven games overall.
Head to head, the under is 4-1 in the last five meetings overall and the Trail Blazers are 5-1 ATS in the last six meetings overall.
The Trail Blazers are a little shorthanded again as Justise Winslow is out and Josh Hart is listed as day to day, while the Grizzlies are keeping eyes on John Konchar and Desmond Bane who are both questionable for this one. The Trail Blazers have started to heat up again thanks to the hot hand of Lillard, while the Grizzlies were mired in a five-game losing streak before taking down the slumping Pacers in their last outing. The Grizzlies have predictably opened as favorites at home despite their recent struggles, but they won’t be able to climb out of another double-digit deficit if they start slow in this game. The Trail Blazers are 5-1 ATS in the last six meetings overall and I think they can hang around right to the end to at least get the cover in this spot.
