The Brooklyn Nets travel to the TD Garden to take on the Boston Celtics on Wednesday night.
The Brooklyn Nets have been in decent shape as they’ve won four of their last six games overall and they will be aiming for a third straight victory after blowing past the shorthanded Lakers in a 121-104 home win on Monday. Kyrie Irving led the team with 26 points, seven rebounds and six assists, Patty Mills and Cam Thomas each scored 21 points while Royce O’Neale chipped in with 14 points. As a team, the Nets shot 47 percent from the field and 16 of 41 from the 3-point line as they squandered an early 15-point lead, before they finished with a flurry of 36 points in the fourth quarter to pull away and win comfortably in the end.
Meanwhile, the Boston Celtics have been in fine form as they’ve won 10 of their last 13 games overall and they will be eager to maintain that momentum after outlasting the Lakers in a thrilling 125-121 overtime home win on Saturday. Jalen Brown led the team with 37 points, nine rebounds and three assists on 13 of 23 shooting, Jayson Tatum added 30 points with 11 rebounds and four assists while Malcolm Brogdon chipped in with 16 points off the bench. As a team, the Celtics shot 46 percent from the field and 13 of 40 from the 3-point line as they went back and forth with the Lakers in a game that could’ve gone either way, before they escaped with the narrow win in overtime after getting a lucky no-call at the end of regulation.
Looking at the betting trends, the Nets are 7-2 ATS in their last nine games against a team with a winning record, 11-5 ATS in their last 16 games following a win and 5-1 ATS in their last six games overall. The Celtics are 1-5 ATS in their last six home games, 7-1 ATS in their last eight games against a team above .600 and 0-6 ATS in their last six games overall.
Head to head, the over is 5-1 in the last six meetings in Boston and the Nets are 0-5 ATS in the last five meetings overall.
The Nets are shorthanded again as Kevin Durant, TJ Warren and Ben Simmons are all out, while the Celtics will again be missing Marcus Smart and they have Robert Williams listed as questionable for this one. The Nets come into this meeting with plenty of momentum, but they are banged up at the moment, so I don’t like their chances against the Celtics who should be well-rested as they haven’t played since Saturday. The Celtics are also 5-0 ATS in the last five meetings overall, so I’ll back them to get the win and cover at home.
