The Orlando Magic and the Philadelphia 76ers duke it out at the Wells Fargo Center on Monday night.
The Orlando Magic have been in a bit of a rut as they’ve lost five of their last eight games overall and they will be hoping to snap a two-game skid after getting run over by the Bulls in a 128-109 loss on Saturday. Moritz Wagner led the team with 27 points on eight of 11 shooting off the bench, Cole Anthony added 21 points with six assists while Wendell Carter Jr. chipped in with 11 points. As a team, the Magic shot 49 percent from the field and 10 of 28 from the 3-point line as they struggled to keep up right from the start and got outscored in every quarter as the starters struggled to score points all night. Paolo Banchero had a night to forget as he finished with just nine points on three of 14 shooting.
Meanwhile, the Philadelphia 76ers have been on fire as they’ve won 12 of their last 14 games overall and they will be hoping to build on their seven-game win streak after taking down the Nuggets in a 126-119 home win on Saturday. Joel Embiid led the team with 47 points, 18 rebounds and five assists, James Harden added 17 points with 13 assists while Tobias Harris and Georges Niang each scored 14 points. As a team, the 76ers shot 51 percent from the field and 18 of 35 from the 3-point line as they struggled in the first half and fell behind by as many as 15 points, only to explode for 68 points in the second half to keep their win streak alive.
Looking at the betting trends, the Magic are 4-1 ATS in their last five road games, 4-0 ATS in their last four games against a team with a winning record and 19-7 ATS in their last 26 games overall. The 76ers are 16-5 ATS in their last 21 home games, 4-1 ATS in their last five games following a win and 4-1 ATS in their last five games overall.
Head to head, the over is 9-4 in the last 13 meetings in Philadelphia, the Magic are 1-5 ATS in the lats six meetings in Philadelphia and the Magic are 2-8 ATS in the last 10 meetings overall.
The Magic are shorthanded again as Chuma Okeke is still out, while the 76ers are keeping an eye on Joel Embiid who is listed as questionable due to soreness in his left foot. I wouldn’t be surprised at all if the 76ers simply rest Embiid even if he is able to play, but the 76ers have been the benchmark of the league and they are still 16-5 ATS in their last 21 home games. The Magic are just 2-8 ATS in the last 10 meetings overall, so I’ll stick with the 76ers to get the win and cover at home in this spot.
