The Houston Rockets and the Detroit Pistons collide at Little Caesars Arena on Saturday night.
The Houston Rockets have been in dreadful form as they’ve lost 15 of their last 16 games overall and they will be hoping to snap a two-game skid after getting blown off the floor by the Cavaliers in a 113-95 loss on Thursday. Tari Eason led the team in scoring with 18 points and 11 rebounds on eight of 13 shooting off the bench, Jabari Smith Jr, Kenyon Martin Jr and Alperen Sengun each scored 14 points. As a team, the Rockets shot 51 percent from the field and just five of 21 from the 3-point line as they struggled to keep up right from the start and never looked in the contest after getting outscored by 74-48 in the first half. The Rockets committed a total of 22 turnovers and they trailed in this one by as many as 32 points at one stage.
Meanwhile, the Detroit Pistons have been in rough shape as they’ve lost seven of their last nine games overall, but they will be eager to build some momentum in this one after taking down the Nets in a 130-122 upset road win on Thursday. Saddiq Bey led the team with 25 points, nine rebounds and three assists, Alec Burks added 20 points, Jalen Duren scored 17 points while Jaden Ivey chipped in with 16 points and eight assists. As a team, the Pistons shot 50 percent from the field and 11 of 27 from the 3-point line as they kept pace with the Nets in a tightly contested first half, before they broke free with 43 points in the third quarter to pull off one of their best wins of the season.
Looking at the betting trends, the Rockets are 3-13 ATS in their last 16 road games, 1-10 ATS in their last 11 games following a loss and 7-19-1 ATS in their last 27 games overall. The Pistons are 0-4 ATS in their last four home games, 0-5 ATS in their last five games following a win and 1-4 ATS in their last five games overall.
Head to head, the over is 9-3 in the last 12 meetings in Detroit and the Rockets are 2-8 ATS in the last 10 meetings overall.
The Rockets are shorthanded again as Jalen Green and Kevin Porter Jr. are both out, while the Pistons will again be missing Cory Joseph and Marvin Bagley. You really couldn’t bet on either team with any confidence of a return, but there is just a bit more to like about the Pistons after they took down the Nets in an upset win on Thursday. This is a game I’d rather stay away from, but if I had to choose, I’d go with the Pistons at home.
