The Brooklyn Nets play host to the New York Knicks at the Barclays Center on Saturday night.
The New York Knicks have been in decent shape as they’ve won nine of their last 14 games overall and they will be eager to stay hot after outlasting the Celtics in a 120-117 overtime road win on Thursday. Julius Randle led the team with 37 points on 13 of 25 shooting, Jalen Brunson added 29 points with seven assists while RJ Barrett chipped in with 19 points. As a team, the Knicks shot 45 percent from the field and 13 of 38 from the 3-point line as they squandered a 13-point lead, after coming back from a 15-point deficit, before they held the Celtics to just seven points in overtime to escape with the gritty win.
Meanwhile, the Brooklyn Nets have been in a real funk as they’ve lost six of their last eight games overall and they will be hoping to avoid a third straight defeat after falling short to the Pistons in a 130-122 loss on Thursday. Kyrie Irving led the team with 40 points and six assists on 14 of 27 shooting, Nic Claxton added 27 points with 13 rebounds while Edmond Sumner chipped in with 24 points on seven of 10 shooting off the bench. As a team the Nets shot 45 percent from the field and 13 of 38 from the 3-point line as they got off to a solid start and took the narrow lead into halftime, before they got blown away in the third quarter where the Pistons exploded for 43 points to put them behind by as many as 14 points.
Looking at the betting trends, the Knicks are 27-9 ATS in their last 36 road games, 8-3-1 ATS in their last 12 games against a team with a winning record and 12-4-1 ATS in their last 17 games following a win. The Nets are 14-40-2 ATS in their last 56 home games, 6-2 ATS in their last eight games against a team with a winning record and 1-4 ATS in their last five games following a loss.
Head to head, the under is 12-5 in the last 17 meetings overall, the Knicks are 14-6 ATS in the last 20 meetings overall and the Knicks are 6-1 ATS in the last seven meetings in Brooklyn.
The Knicks are still without Mitchell Robinson, while the Nets are keeping eyes on Day’Ron Sharpe and Ben Simmons who are both questionable. The Knicks have been flying under the radar lately and they are 6-1 ATS in the last seven meetings in Brooklyn and 27-9 ATS in their last 36 road games overall. The Nets have opened as slight favorites and they would love to take down their rivals, but the Knicks are coming into this one with some momentum and I think they can keep it going with another win here.
