The Philadelphia 76ers play host to the Brooklyn Nets at the Wells Fargo Center on Wednesday night.
The Brooklyn Nets have been in decent form as they’ve split their last eight games and they will be gunning for a third straight victory after sneaking past the Warriors in a thrilling 120-116 road win on Sunday. Kyrie Irving led the team with 38 points, seven rebounds and nine assists, Nic Claxton added 24 points with 15 rebounds and three blocks while Royce O’Neale chipped in with 16 points. As a team, the Nets shot 54 percent from the field and 14 of 27 from the 3-point line as they struggled to keep up with the Warriors early on and fell behind by 17 points, but they held the Warriors to just 18 points in the third quarter before finishing with a flurry in the fourth quarter thanks to Irving who was unstoppable in the clutch.
Meanwhile, the Philadelphia 76ers have been in great form as they’ve won 10 of their last 12 games overall and they will be gunning for a sixth straight victory after beating the Kings in a 129-127 road win on Saturday. Tyrese Maxey led the team with 32 points and six assists on 12 of 29 shooting, Tobias Harris and Montrezl Harrell each scored 17 points while Shake Milton chipped in with 15 points ,six rebounds and seven assists off the bench. As a team, the 76ers shot 52 percent from the field and 12 of 28 from the 3-point line as they exploded for 38 points in the third quarter to erase a 10-point halftime deficit, before they held off a late rally from the Kings.
Looking at the betting trends, the Nets are 5-2 ATS in their last seven games against a team with a winning record, 6-2 ATS in their last eight games playing on two days’ rest and 2-5 ATS in their last seven games overall. The 76ers are 15-4 ATS in their last 19 home games, 6-1 ATS in their last seven games against a team above .600 and 10-4 ATS in their last 14 games against a team with a winning record.
The Nets are still missing Kevin Durant who will be re-evaluated in two weeks, while the 76ers have ruled out Furkan Korkmaz and they have Joel Embiid listed as questionable. The Nets are coming into this meeting with plenty of momentum after taking down the Warriors in their last outing and they will like their chances given how hot Irving has been lately. The 76ers have been the more consistent team all season and they’re on a roll at the moment, but obviously the status of Embiid has a significant bearing on this contest. Be sure to check the lineups before tipoff, but even if Embiid sits this one out, I’d rather go with the 76ers who are 15-4 ATS in their last 19 home games.
