The Minnesota Timberwolves travel to the Toyota Center to take on the Houston Rockets once again on Monday night.
The Minnesota Timberwolves have been in great shape as they’ve won eight of their last 11 games overall, and they will be gunning for a third straight victory after beating the Rockets in a 113-104 win on Saturday. Anthony Edwards led the team with 44 points on 17 of 29 shooting, D’Angelo Russell added 23 points with eight assists while Nathan Knight chipped in with 19 points off the bench. As a team, the Timberwolves shot 45 percent from the field and 17 of 41 from the 3-point line as they went back and forth with the Rockets in a tightly-contested first half, before they outscored the Rockets by 63-52 in the second half to win comfortably in the end. Kyle Anderson had a night to forget as he finished scoreless on zero of seven shooting in 33 minutes of action.
Meanwhile, the Houston Rockets have been ice-cold lately as they’ve lost 18 of their last 19 games overall and they will be hoping to avoid a 14th straight loss after falling short to the Timberwolves on Saturday. Alperen Sengun led the team with 19 points, 16 rebounds and seven assists on seven of nine shooting, Eric Gordon added 16 points while Kenyon Martin Jr. chipped in with 15 points and nine rebounds. As a team, the Rockets shot 48 percent from the field and nine of 24 from the 3-point line as they had the better of the Timberwolves in the first half, but they were no stopping Anthony Edwards in the second half where the Timberwolves poured in 63 points.
Looking at the betting trends, the Timberwolves are 5-2 ATS in their last seven games following a win, 19-8 ATS in their last 27 games against a team below .400 and 4-1 ATS in their last five games overall. The Rockets are 1-4 ATS in their last five home games, 3-14 ATS in their last 17 games following a loss and 7-19-1 ATS in their last 27 games overall.
Head to head, the Timberwolves are 6-1 ATS in the last seven meetings overall and the Timberwolves are 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings in Houston.
The Timberwolves are could be shorthanded again as Taurean Prince, Bryn Forbes and Rudy Gobert are all listed as questionable, while the Rockets have ruled out Kevin Porter Jr, and they have Jabari Smith Jr listed as questionable for Monday. It’s always tough to beat the same team twice in a row, but the Rockets have been the worst team in the league for a while now and I don’t feel that we’re getting enough free points with this line. With that being said, I’ll stick with the Timberwolves to get the win and cover in this spot.
