The Boston Celtics and the Orlando Magic collide at the Amway Center on Monday night.
The Boston Celtics have been in great form as they’ve won 13 of their last 15 games overall and they will be hoping to build on their nine-game win streak after sneaking past the Raptors in a 106-104 road win on Saturday. Jaylen Brown led the team with 27 points, eight rebounds and six assists, Grant Williams added 25 points off the bench while Malcolm Brogdon chipped in with 23 points on eight of 16 shooting off the bench. As a team, the Celtics shot 44 percent from the field and 16 of 35 from the 3-point line as they struggled to keep up with the Raptors in the first half and trailed by as many as 11 points, but they stayed in the fight and held the Raptors to just 19 points in the fourth quarter to escape with the narrow win.
Meanwhile, the Orlando Magic have been in a rut as they’ve lost three of their past four games and they will be hoping to bounce back here after getting thrashed by the Wizards in a 138-118 road loss on Saturday. Markelle Fultz led the team with 23 points and eight assists, Franz Wagner added 20 points while Paolo Banchero chipped in with 15 points. As a team, the Magic shot 46 percent from the field and 14 of 34 from the 3-point line, but they were always fighting an uphill battle in this one after leaking 70 points in the first half to fall behind by double-digits almost from the start.
Looking at the betting trends, the Celtics are 6-2-1 ATS in their last nine games against a team below .400 and 3-7-1 ATS in their last 11 games following an ATS loss. The Magic are 8-3 ATS in their last 11 home games, 5-0 ATS in their last five games following a loss and 4-1 ATS in their last five games overall.
Head to head, the under is 6-2 in the last eight meetings in Orlando, the Celtics are 1-4 ATS in the last five meetings overall and the Celtics are 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings in Orlando.
The Celtics are shorthanded here as Marcus Smart and Malcolm Brogdon are both out, while Robert Williams is listed as questionable. The Magic are still missing Chuma Okeke but Jonathan Isaac has been upgraded to questionable for the first time. The Celtics are a little banged up at the moment, but they are clearly the team in better form coming into this meeting and they are 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings in Orlando. I think the Magic put up a fight in this one, but in the end I have the Celtics staying hot with a win and cover on the road.
