The New York Knicks invade the Scotiabank Arena to take on the Toronto Raptors on Sunday night.
The New York Knicks look to have cooled off a bit recently as they are now hoping to avoid a fourth straight defeat after getting thrashed by the Hawks in a 139-124 road loss on Friday. Julius Randle led the team with 32 points, nine rebounds and six assists, RJ Barrett added 23 points on nine of 16 shooting while Jalen Brunson chipped in with 19 points and nine assists. As a team, the Knicks shot a sizzling 59 percent from the field and 13 of 30 from the 3-point line as they set the tone with 38 points to take the early lead, before they allowed the Hawks to explode for 71 points in the second half to fall short in the end.
Meanwhile, the Toronto Raptors have cooled off a bit lately as they’ve lost four of their last five games overall and they will be hoping to snap a three-game skid after falling just short to the Celtics in a 106-104 home loss last night. Pascal Siakam led the team with 29 points with nine rebounds and 10 assists, Gary Trent Jr. added 22 points on nine of 17 shooting while Precious Achiuwa chipped in with 17 points and 11 rebounds. As a team, the Raptors shot 53 percent from the field and seven of 19 from the 3-point line as they got off to a quick start and looked to be a step ahead for most of the game, until the fourth quarter where they managed just 19 points to allow the Celtics to run them down in the end.
Looking at the betting trends, the Knicks are 26-8 ATS in their last 34 road games and 4-1 ATS in their last five Sunday games. The Raptors are 1-5 ATS in their last six games against a team with a winning record and 7-3 ATS in their last 10 home games against a team with a road record above .600.
Head to head, the over is 4-1 in the last five meetings overall, the Knicks are 1-10 ATS in the last 11 meetings in Toronto and the Knicks are 2-5 ATS in the last seven meetings overall.
The Knicks are again missing Mitchell Robinson, while the Raptors have ruled out OG Anunoby, Fred VanVleet and Dalano Banton. The Knicks were on a run of seven wins in eight games, before they dropped their last three games and their confidence must’ve been shaken after losing again to Trae Young and the Hawks on Friday. This would be a good spot for the Raptors to pounce if they weren’t so banged up, but with so many key players out for the Raptors, I’ll side with the Knicks to get the win on the road.
