The Orlando Magic and the Washington Wizards collide at the Capital One Arena on Saturday night.
The Orlando Magic have been in decent form as they’ve split their last eight games and they will be hoping to build some momentum after taking down the shorthanded Pelicans in a 123-110 home win last night. Franz Wagner led the team with 30 points and nine assists on 10 of 16 shooting, Cole Anthony added 22 points off the bench while Gary Harris chipped in with 15 points. As a team, the Magic shot 52 percent from the field and 15 of 30 from the 3-point line as they got off to a sluggish start and trailed for most of the first half, but their bench kept them within striking distance until the fourth quarter where they outscored the Pelicans by 35-19 to win easily in the end.
Meanwhile, the Washington Wizards have been in a funk as they’ve lost five of their last seven games overall, but they will be eager to get on a roll after blowing past the Knicks in a 116-105 road win on Wednesday. Kyle Kuzma led the team with 27 points, 13 rebounds and seven assists, Kristaps Porzingis added 22 points with 11 rebounds and five assists while Bradley Beal chipped in with 18 points on seven of 11 shooting. As a team, the Wizards shot 44 percent from the field and 16 of 42 from the 3-point line as they took control of the game early with a 35-22 first quarter, before they poured in another 32 points in the third quarter to push the lead out to double-digits. Rui Hachimura had a night to forget as he finished scoreless on zero of seven shooting in 20 minutes off the bench.
Looking at the betting trends, the Magic are 8-2 ATS in their last 10 road games, 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games against a team with a losing record and 4-1 ATS in their last five games overall. The Wizards are 4-9 ATS in their last 13 home games, 4-1 ATS in their last five games against a team with a losing record and 2-5 ATS in their last seven games overall.
Head to head, the over is 11-1 in the last 12 meetings in Washington and the Magic are 5-1 ATS in the last six meetings in Washington.
The Magic come into this meeting as the team in better form and they looked good in last night’s win over the shorthanded Pelicans, but the Wizards are finally back to a full squad and I think they can start to turn things around with a win and cover in this spot.
