The Boston Celtics pay a visit to the Toronto Raptors at the Scotiabank Arena on Saturday night.
The Boston Celtics have been on a tear lately as they will be gunning for a ninth straight victory after outlasting the Warriors in a 121-118 overtime home win on Thursday. Jayson Tatum led the team with 34 points, 19 rebounds and six assists, Al Horford added 20 points with 10 rebounds and three blocks while Marcus Smart tallied 18 points with four assists. As a team, the Celtics shot just 39 percent from the field and 13 of 41 from the 3-point line as they rallied back from an 11-point deficit to force overtime where they used a 15-7 run to pull away and escape with the narrow victory.
Meanwhile, the Toronto Raptors have been in decent shape as they’ve won four of their last seven games, but they will be hoping to snap a two-game skid after falling just short to the Grizzlies in a 128-126 road loss on Thursday. Scottie Barnes led the team with 29 points, eight rebounds and five assists, Fred VanVleet tallied 25 points and 10 assists while Pascal Siakam racked up 13 points with seven rebounds and nine assists. As a team, the Raptors shot 52 percent from the field and 14 of 28 from the 3-point line as they stormed out of the gates and exploded for 76 points in the first half to build an 18-point lead, but they never put the Timberwolves away and scored just 17 points in the fourth quarter to allow the Timberwolves to win the game on free throws in the end.
Looking at the betting trends, the Celtics are 4-1 ATS in their last five road games and 4-1 ATS in their last five games overall. The Raptors are 1-4 ATS in their last five games against a team with a winning road record and 5-2 ATS in their last seven Saturday games.
Head to head, the under is 7-2 in the last nine meetings in Toronto, the Celtics are 10-1 ATS in the last 11 meetings in Toronto and the Celtics are 4-0 ATS in the last four meetings overall.
The Celtics are going to be shorthanded in this one as Jayson Tatum is currently listed as out due to left wrist soreness, while the Raptors are keeping an eye on Dalano Banton who is questionable for this one. The Celtics come into this one as the hottest team in the Eastern Conference, but they’re going to be without their leading scorer, Tatum but they still have quality players like Smart and Brown. The Raptors have started to turn things around, but they’re still well below their best and they are only 1-4 ATS in their last five games against a team with a winning road record. The Celtics are 10-1 ATS in the last 11 meetings in Toronto and I think that trend continues here as the Celtics get the job done without Tatum in the lineup.
