The Golden State Warriors travel to the Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse to take on the Cleveland Cavaliers on Friday night.
The Golden State Warriors have been in a rut as they’ve lost five of their last seven games overall and they will be hoping to bounce back here after falling just short to the Celtics in a 121-118 overtime road loss last night. Stephen Curry led the team with 29 points and seven assists, Klay Thompson and Jordan Poole each scored 24 points, Andrew Wiggins scored 20 points while Draymond Green tallied 11 points with 13 rebounds and nine assists. As a team, the Warriors shot 40 percent from the field and 18 of 52 from the 3-point line as they squandered an 11-point lead in the fourth quarter, before they fell victim to a pivotal 8-0 run from the Celtics in overtime to come up short in the end.
Meanwhile, the Cleveland Cavaliers have been in decent shape as they’ve won six of their last 10 games overall, but they will be looking to bounce back in this one after falling to the Grizzlies in a painful 115-114 road loss on Wednesday. Darius Garland led the team with 24 points and 14 assists, Caris LeVert added 23 points with six assists while Evan Mobley tallied 18 points with 15 rebounds and three assists. As a team, the Cavaliers shot 51 percent from the field and 16 of 35 from the 3-point line as they clawed their way back from a 19-point deficit, only to lose by the smallest margin as the Grizzlies’ Steven Adams made the game-winning tip shot with just 16.1 seconds remaining.
Looking at the betting trends, the Warriors are 7-16 ATS in their last 23 road games and 1-4 ATS in their last five games against a team with a winning record. The Cavaliers are 17-7-1 ATS in their last 25 home games and 3-1-1 ATS in their last five games against a team with a losing record.
Head to head, the under is 5-0 in the last five meetings overall, the Warriors are 16-5 ATS in the last 21 meetings overall and the Warriors are 7-0 ATS in the last seven meetings in Cleveland.
The Warriors are shorthanded again as James Wiseman and Jonathan Kuminga are still out, while the Cavaliers are keeping an eye on Donovan Mitchell who sat out Wednesday’s game with a groin injury. The Warriors have been a poor road team all season, they’re playing on zero days rest and they’ve lost five of their last seven games overall. The Cavaliers are coming in as the team in better form and they were just one point basket from beating the Grizzlies in their last outing, so even though the betting trends favor the Warriors, I’ll take the Cavaliers in this spot.
