The Miami Heat and the Dallas Mavericks collide at the American Airlines Center on Friday night.
The Miami Heat have been in fine form as they’ve won seven of their last 10 games overall and they will be looking to stay hot after blowing past the depleted Pelicans in a 124-98 road win on Wednesday. Bam Adebayo led the team with 26 points on 11 of 15 shooting, Jimmy Butler added 18 points with seven assists while Gabe Vincent and Max Strus each scored 16 points. As a team, the Heat shot 53 percent from the field and 12 of 35 from the 3-point line as they dominated right from the start, pouring in 70 points in the first half to take the early lead and they just never took their foot off the gas. A total of seven Heat players finished in double figures in scoring and they were able to rest most their starters early.
Meanwhile, the Dallas Mavericks have been in a real slump as they’ve lost five of their last six games overall and they will be hoping to arrest a three-game skid after falling short to the Hawks in a 130-122 loss on Wednesday. Luka Doncic led the team with 30 points and eight assists, Christian Wood added 22 points with nine rebounds and four assists while Spencer Dinwiddie chipped in with 20 points and seven assists. As a team, the Mavericks shot 52 percent from the field and 16 of 42 from the 3-point line as they went back and forth with the Hawks in a tight contest, until the fourth quarter where the Hawks went on a 16-6 run to slip away in the end.
Looking at the betting trends, the Heat are 5-0 ATS in their last five games against a team with a winning record, 8-18-2 ATS in their last 28 games following a win and 5-2 ATS in their last seven games overall. The Mavericks are 2-5 ATS in their last seven games following an ATS loss and 16-33-2 ATS in the last 51 games overall.
Head to head, the Heat are 9-4-1 ATS in the last 14 meetings overall and the Heat are 15-5-1 ATS in the last 21 meetings in Dallas.
The Mavericks are going to be shorthanded here as Christian Wood has been ruled out, which makes it tougher for a team that’s already struggling with injuries. The Heat have their own injuries, but they’ve dealt with them well all season and they are clearly the team in better form coming into this matchup. The Heat are 15-5-1 ATS in the last 21 meetings in Dallas and I think they represent great value as the road underdogs in this spot.
