The Charlotte Hornets and the Houston Rockets do battle at the Toyota Center on Wednesday night.

The Charlotte Hornets have been in a real slump as they’ve lost 10 of their last 12 games overall and they will be hoping to arrest a five-game slide after getting routed by the Celtics in a 130-118 loss on Monday. Jalen McDaniels led the team with 26 points on nine of 15 shooting, LaMelo Ball added 25 points with six assists while Mason Plumlee tallied 19 points with 12 rebounds and seven assists on seven of nine shooting. As a team, the Hornets shot 45 percent from the field and 13 of 31 from the 3-point line as they got off to a slow start and had to claw their way back from a 17-point deficit, only to leak 38 points in the fourth quarter to get blown out in the end.

Meanwhile, the Houston Rockets have been ice-cold lately as they’ve lost 16 of their last 17 games overall and they will be hoping to snap an 11-game slide after getting beaten by the Lakers in a 140-132 road loss on Monday. Alperen Sengun led the team with 33 points, 15 rebounds and six assists, Jalen Green added 23 points while Eric Gordon chipped in with 19 points and eight assists. As a team, the Rockets shot 49 percent from the field and 11 of 30 from the 3-point line, but they were poor on the defensive end and were always playing from behind after allowing the Lakers to pour in 73 points in the first half.

Looking at the betting trends, the Hornets are 1-4-1 ATS in their last six games against a team with a losing record, 47-18-2 ATS in their last 67 games against a team below .400 and 0-4 ATS in their last four games overall. The Rockets are 2-6-1 ATS in their last nine home games, 26-53 ATS in their last 79 games against a team with a losing record and 3-13-1 ATS in their last 17 games overall.

Head to head, the under is 22-8 in the last 30 meetings overall, the Hornets are 4-15-2 ATS in the last 21 meetings in Houston and the Hornets are 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings overall.

The Hornets could be shorthanded once again as Gordon Hayward and Cody Martin are both listed as doubtful, while the Rockets are keeping an eye on Kevin Porter Jr. who is listed as questionable for this one. You really couldn’t bet on either team with much confidence as these have been two of the worst teams in the league all season, but the Hornets are only 4-15-2 ATS in the last 21 meetings in Houston, so I’ll lean towards the Rockets who were more than competitive against the Lakers in their narrow loss on Monday.

The pick in this article is the opinion of the writer, not a PickDawgz site consensus.
