The Boston Celtics and the Charlotte Hornets duke it out once again at the Spectrum Center on Monday night.
The Boston Celtics have been in red-hot form as they’ve won 10 of their last 12 games overall and they will be gunning for a seventh straight victory after routing the Hornets in a 122-106 road win on Saturday. Jayson Tatum led the team with 33 points, nine rebounds and six assists, Malcolm Brogdon added 30 points on 11 of 17 shooting off the bench while Al Horford tallied 16 points with seven rebounds and six assists. As a team, the Celtics shot 47 percent from the field and 19 of 53 from the 3-point line as they struggled to contain the Hornets to start the game and trailed going into halftime, before they hit their stride in the second half where they outscored the Hornets by 60-40 to win easily in the end.
Meanwhile, the Charlotte Hornets have been in a real slump as they’ve lost seven of their last eight games overall and they will be hoping to arrest a four-game slide after getting routed by the Celtics on Saturday. LaMelo Ball led the team with 31 points, seven rebounds and nine assists, Terry Rozier added 21 points while PJ Washington chipped in with 14 points. As a team, the Hornets shot 46 percent from the field and eight of 27 from the 3-point line as they set the tone with 34 points in the first quarter to take the early lead, only to let their hard work go to waste in the second half where they managed just 40 points.
Looking at the betting trends, the Celtics are 2-5-1 ATS in their last eight games against a team with a losing record, 11-4 ATS in their last 15 games following a win of more than 10 points and 5-2-1 ATS in their last eight games against a team below .400. The Hornets are 0-4 ATS in their last four home games, 6-2-1 ATS in their last nine games following a double-digit loss at home and 2-6 ATS in their last eight games overall.
Head to head, the under is 4-1 in the last five meetings overall, the Celtics are 21-6-1 ATS in the last 28 meetings overall and the Celtics are 5-1 ATS in the last six meetings in Charlotte.
The Celtics are again missing Derrick White and Jaylen Brown, while the Hornets will again be without Gordon Hayward and Kelly Oubre Jr. The Celtics have clearly been the team in better form and they 21-6-1 ATS in their last 28 meetings overall and 5-1 ATS in the last six meetings in Charlotte, so I’ll back the Celtics to get the big win and cover in this spot.
