The New York Knicks invade Little Caesars Arena to take on the Detroit Pistons on Sunday afternoon in NBA action.
The New York Knicks have been in great shape as they’ve won six of their last seven games overall and they will be aiming for a third straight victory after sneaking past the Wizards in a 112-108 road win on Friday. Jalen Brunson led the team with 34 points, eight rebounds and eight assists, Julius Randle added 23 points with 16 rebounds while Immanuel Quickley chipped in with 18 points on seven of 13 shooting off the bench. As a team, the Knicks shot 44 percent from the field and eight of 29 from the 3-point line as they got off to a sluggish start and scored just 19 points in the first quarter to trail for most of the game, before they poured in 62 points in the second half to build a 14-point lead which was enough to hold off the Wizards in the end.
Meanwhile, the Detroit Pistons have been in a rut as they’ve lost four of their last five games overall and they will be hoping to bounce back after falling short to the depleted Pelicans in a 116-110 loss on Friday. Bojan Bogdanovic led the team with 22 points, Saddiq Bey added 20 points with 10 rebounds and three assists while Hamidou Diallo chipped in with 19 points on nine of 11 shooting off the bench. As a team, the Pistons shot 47 percent from the field and seven of 30 from the 3-point line as they struggled to keep up with the Pelicans and fell behind by as many as 17 points in the third quarter before they made a run in the fourth quarter to make it interesting late.
Looking at the betting trends, the Knicks are 25-7 ATS in their last 32 road games, 10-3-1 ATS in their last 14 games following a win and 5-2 ATS in their last seven games overall. The Pistons are 3-7 ATS in their last 10 home games, 2-5 ATS in their last seven games against a team with a winning record and 1-4 ATS in their last five games overall.
Head to head, the Knicks are 5-1 ATS in the last six meetings in Detroit and the Knicks are 9-1-1 ATS in the last 11 meetings overall.
The Knicks don’t’ have any player listed on the injury report, while the Pistons will again be missing Jalen Duren, Buddy Boeheim and Marvin Bagley. The Knicks have been flying under the radar lately as they’ve won six of their last seven games and it’s hard to imagine them struggling against this slumping Pistons team with little to play for at this stage of the season. The Knicks are also 9-1-1 ATS in the last 11 meetings overall, so I'll back the Knicks to get the job done on the road in this spot.
