The Indiana Pacers play host to the Memphis Grizzlies at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Saturday night in NBA action.
The Memphis Grizzlies have been in great shape as they will be looking to build on their current eight-game win streak after sneaking past the Spurs in a 135-129 home win on Wednesday. Ja Morant led the team with 38 points on 14 of 25 shooting, Jaren Jackson Jr added 21 points with 12 rebounds and two blocks, Desmond Bane scored 18 points while Steven Adams tallied 11 points with 18 rebounds, five assists and three blocks. As a team, the Grizzlies shot 51 percent from the field and 14 of 22 from the 3-point line as they took control of the contest with 44 points in the second quarter to build a 19-point lead, but it wasn’t exactly smooth sailing from that point as the Grizzlies had to hold off a late charge from the Spurs who got to within three points late in the game.
Meanwhile, the Indiana Pacers have been in fine form as they’ve won eight of their last 12 games overall, but they will be hoping to snap a two-game skid after falling painfully short to the Hawks in a heartbreaking 113-111 loss last night. Bennedict Mathurin led the team with 26 points on nine of 18 shooting, Buddy Hield added 18 points, Oshae Brissett scored 17 points with 10 rebounds off the bench while Isaiah Jackson tallied 10 points with 10 rebounds and seven blocks. As a team, the Pacers shot just 39 percent from the field and seven of 30 from the 3-point line as they controlled most of the game to lead by nine points in the fourth quarter, only to see the Hawks run them down and steal the game at the buzzer thanks to a game-winning tip shot from John Collins.
Looking at the betting trends, the Grizzlies are 4-1 ATS in their last five road games, 7-2 ATS in their last nine games against a team with a winning record and 8-3 ATS in their last 11 games playing on two days’ rest. The Pacers are 5-1 ATS in their last six home games, 21-8 ATS in their last 29 games playing on zero days rest and 6-2 ATS in their last eight games overall.
Head to head, the over is 4-1 in the last five meetings in Indiana and the over is 6-1 in the last seven meetings overall.
The Grizzlies could be shorthanded once again as Brandon Clarke and Dillon Brooks are both listed as questionable, while the Pacers will again be missing Myles Turner, Aaron Nesmith, Tyrese Haliburton and Kendall Brown who are all out. Both teams are in winning form coming into this meeting, but the injury to Haliburton proved too much for the Pacers to overcome last night and I think it will be a recurring theme until he comes back given how much he produces for them. With that being said, I’m going to stick with the Grizzlies who should be well-rested as they haven’t played since Wednesday.
