The New York Knicks invade the Capital One Arena to take on the Washington Wizards on Friday night in NBA action.
The New York Knicks have been in fine form as they’ve won five of their last six games overall and they will be looking to stay hot after holding off the Pacers in a 119-113 home win on Wednesday. Jalen Brunson led the team with 34 points on 11 of 20 shooting, RJ Barrett added 27 points with eight rebounds and four assists while Quentin Grimes chipped in with 18 points. As a team, the Knicks shot 45 percent from the field and 15 of 42 from the 3-point line as they jumped all over the Pacers from the start and exploded for 37 points in the first quarter to build a 25-point lead which proved to be just enough as the Pacers rallied to within a three-point margin late in the fourth quarter.
Meanwhile, the Washington Wizards have been in pretty good shape themselves as they’ve won seven of their last 11 games overall and they will be eager to stay hot after taking down the Bulls in a 100-97 home win on Wednesday. Kyle Kuzma led the team with 21 points, Anthony Gill added 18 points on seven of 11 shooting off the bench while Monte Morris chipped in with 17 points. As a team, the Wizards shot 46 percent from the field and seven of 23 from the 3-point line as they got off to a sluggish start and fell behind by as many as 16 points in the first half, but they made their adjustments and exploded for 41 points in the third quarter to escape with the narrow win thanks to Kuzma who drained the game-winning shot with just 6.0 seconds remaining.
Looking at the betting trends, the Knicks are 24-7 ATS in their last 31 road games, 9-3-1 ATS in their last 13 games following a win and 13-6 ATS in their last 19 games overall. The Wizards are 5-2 ATS in their lats seven games against a team with a winning record and 4-10-2 ATS in their last 16 games playing on one days rest.
Head to head, the under is 6-1 in the last seven meetings in Washington and the Knicks are 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings in Washington.
Both teams are coming into this game with plenty of momentum, but the Knicks don’t have anyone listed on the injury report, while the Wizards have listed Vernon Carey Jr, Johnny Davis, Monte Morris, Daniel Gafford and Kristaps Porzingis who are all questionable. You can make an argument for either side here, but with the injury cloud hanging over the Wizards’ lineup, I’d rather go with the Knicks who are 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings in Washington.
