The San Antonio Spurs play host to the Golden State Warriors at the Alamodome on Friday night in NBA action.
The Golden State Warriors have been in in fair shape as they’ve split their last 10 games overall and they will be hoping to arrest a three-game slide after getting routed by the depleted Suns in a 125-113 home loss on Tuesday. Klay Thompson drained six 3-pointers to lead the way with 29 points, Jordan Poole added 27 points with six assists off the bench while Stephen Curry chipped in with 24 points on eight of 22 shooting. As a team, the Warriors shot just 38 percent from the field and 18 of 48 from the 3-point line as they struggled to match the intensity of the Suns from the start and quickly found themselves in trouble, trailing by as many as 27 points before they made a run in the fourth quarter to keep the scores respectable.
Meanwhile, the San Antonio Spurs have been in rough shape as they’ve lost six of their last seven games overall and they will be hoping to arrest a three-game skid after falling short to the Grizzlies in a 135-129 road loss on Wednesday. Keldon Johnson led the team with 24 points, Tre Jones added 22 points with six assists while Jakob Poeltl chipped in with 17 points, 12 rebounds and five blocks. As a team, the Spurs shot 46 percent from the field and 11 of 34 from the 3-point line as they looked like they were going to spring an upset after exploding for 37 points in the first quarter, but it didn’t last long as the Grizzlies responded with 44 points in the second quarter to put them behind by as many as 19 points which was always too much to overcome.
Looking at the betting trends, the Warriors are 9-4 ATS in their last 13 games following a loss of more than 10 points and 2-5-1 ATS in their last eight games against a team below .400. The Spurs are 3-9 ATS in their last 12 games against a team with a losing record, 4-0 ATS in their last four games following a loss and 5-0 ATS in their last five games overall.
Head to head, the under is 6-1-1 in the last eight meetings overall and the under is 6-2 in the last eight meetings in San Antonio.
The Warriors are still missing James Wiseman and Jonathan Kuminga, while the Spurs are shorthanded as well with Devin Vassell ruled out again. The Warriors have been a poor road team all season, but they’re getting healthy again and they will be eager to come out swinging after a slow start cost them against the Suns on Tuesday. The Spurs have really struggled to win games lately, but they were more than competitive in their narrow loss to the Grizzlies and they are 5-0 ATS in their last five games overall. The line is a little hefty, but the Warriors are 9-4 ATS in their last 13 games following a loss of more than 10 points and I think they bounce back here.
