The Atlanta Hawks and the Indiana Pacers duke it out at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Friday night in NBA action.
The Atlanta Hawks have been in a slump as they’ve lost six of their last eight games overall and they will be hoping to bounce back here after getting beaten by the Bucks in a 114-105 home loss on Wednesday. Bogdan Bogdanovic led the team with 22 points and five assists off the bench, De’Andre Hunter led the team with 16 points and nine rebounds while John Collins chipped in with 15 points and seven assists. As a team, the Hawks shot 44 percent from the field and 11 of 30 from the 3-point line as they worked hard to rally all the way back from a 24-point deficit to take the lead late in the fourth quarter, only to allow the Bucks to close the final 2:50 on a 13-4 run fall short in the end.
Meanwhile, the Indiana Pacers have been in great shape as they’ve won six of their last eight games overall, but they will be eager to get back on the court after getting stopped in their tracks by the Knicks in a 119-113 road loss on Wednesday. Buddy Hield led the team with 31 points and eight rebounds on 11 of 20 shooting, Bennedict Mathurin led the team with 20 points on seven of 13 shooting off the bench while Tyrese Haliburton chipped in with 15 points and seven assists. As a team, the Pacers shot 47 percent from the field and 12 of 39 from the 3-point line as they struggled to find their footing and managed just 41 points in the first half to trail by as many as 25 points which proved to be just too much to overcome as they couldn’t get the lead despite cutting the deficit to just three points late.
Looking at the betting trends, the Hawks are 5-2 ATS in their last seven games following a loss and 6-22 ATS in their last 28 road games against a team with a home record above .600. The Pacers are 5-1 ATS in their last six home games, 11-3 ATS in their last 14 games against a team with a losing record and 6-2 ATS in their last eight games overall.
Head to head, the over is 12-2 in the last 14 meetings overall and the Hawks are 5-2 ATS in the last seven meetings in Indiana.
The Hawks are shorthanded again as Clint Capela is still out, while the Pacers have ruled out Tyrese Haliburton and they are keeping eyes on Myles Turner, Oshae Brissett and Aaron Nesmith who are all questionable. The Hawks haven’t been able to get anything going lately, but they open as the favorites in this one given how banged up the Pacers are the moment. It wouldn’t shock me if the Pacers were able to spring the minor upset given how well they’ve been playing, but this will be a test for them without Haliburton. Give me the Hawks to get the much-needed victory in this spot.
