The Utah Jazz and the Memphis Grizzlies do battle at the FedExForum on Sunday night in NBA action.
The Utah Jazz have been in a major slump as they’ve lost six of their last seven games overall and they will be hoping to bounce back after getting run over by the Bulls in a 126-118 road loss last night. Lauri Markkanen led the way with 28 points on 12 of 20 shooting, Ochai Agbaji scored 19 points on seven of seven shooting off the bench while Jordan Clarkson chipped in with 18 points and eight assists. As a team, the Jazz shot 49 percent from the field and 12 of 41 from the 3-point line as they looked to be in control when they exploded for 40 points in the third quarter to take the lead, only to get blown out in the fourth quarter where they allowed 42 points.
Meanwhile, the Memphis Grizzlies have been in a groove as they’ve won six of their last eight games overall and they will be eager to build on their five-game win streak after taking down the Magic in a 123-115 road win on Thursday. Ja Morant led the team with 32 points and six assists on 13 of 21 shooting, Jaren Jackson Jr. added 31 points with 10 rebounds and three blocks while Ziaire Williams chipped in with 16 points off the bench. As a team, the Grizzlies shot 52 percent from the field and 12 of 36 from the 3-point line as they exploded for 43 points in the second quarter to build a 25-point lead which proved to be more than enough as the Magic couldn’t get within single digits until the very end of the game.
Looking at the betting trends, the Jazz are 8-1 ATS in their last nine games against a team above .600 and 1-4 ATS in their last five games against a team with a winning record. The Grizzlies are 36-14-1 ATS in their last 51 home games, 19-7 ATS in their last 26 games playing on two days’ rest and 5-0 ATS in their last five games overall.
Head to head, the over is 13-3 in the last 16 meetings overall and the Jazz are 6-2-1 ATS in the last nine meetings overall.
The Jazz are again missing Collin Sexton because of that hamstring injury, while the Grizzlies have ruled out Brandon Clarke again and Steven Adams and Ja Morant are both questionable. This is certainly one of those games where you want to check the starting lineups before tipoff, but the Grizzlies are deserved favorites at home and they are 5-0 ATS in their last five games overall. The Grizzlies have already shown that they can win consistently without Morant in the lineup, so I’ll stick with the Grizzlies to get the job done here.
