The Philadelphia 76ers pay a visit to the Detroit Pistons in NBA action at Little Caesars Arena on Sunday.
The Philadelphia 76ers have been in great shape as they’ve won 11 of their last 14 games overall, but they will be hoping to bounce back in this one after having their three-game win streak snapped by the Bulls in a 126-112 loss on Friday. Tyrese Maxey led the team in scoring with 26 points and six assists, Tobias Harris added 22 points with 11 rebounds while James Harden tallied 17 points with seven rebounds and 11 assists. As a team, the 76ers shot 43 percent from the field and 18 of 41 from the 3-point line as they got off to a quick start to jump out to a 13-point lead, but they couldn’t slow down the Bulls and were always fighting a losing battle after allowing 40 points in the third quarter.
Meanwhile, the Detroit Pistons have been in decent form as they’ve split their last six games, but they will be looking to bounce back here after getting routed by the Spurs in a 121-109 loss on Friday. Bojan Bogdanovic led the team with 21 points, Jaden Ivey added 20 points with five assists while Killian Hayes chipped in with 18 points, seven assists and five steals. As a team, the Pistons shot 47 percent from the field and 11 of 31 from the 3-point line as they kept pace with the Spurs until the second half where the Spurs poured on 70 points to blow them away in the end.
Looking at the betting trends, the 76ers are 2-5 ATS in their last seven road games, 12-4-1 ATS in their last 17 games following a double-digit loss at home and 6-0 ATS in their last six Sunday games. The Pistons are 2-5 ATS in their last seven home games, 10-4-2 ATS in their last 16 games against a team with a winning record and 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games overall.
Head to head, the over is 8-2-1 in the last 11 meetings overall and the 76ers are 14-5 ATS in the last 19 meetings overall.
The 76ers are going to be shorthanded here as Joel Embiid and PJ Tucker have both been ruled out, while the Pistons are still missing Isaiah Livers and Marvin Bagley. The 76ers come into this meeting clearly as the team in better form as they’ve been one of the hottest teams in the league, but they didn’t look good in Friday’s loss. The Pistons are capable of pulling off the upset, but I just can’t trust them the way they’ve been playing, so I’ll stick with the 76ers to get the win behind a big game from Harden.
