The Charlotte Hornets and the Indiana Pacers collide at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Sunday night in NBA action.
The Charlotte Hornets have been in a slump as they’ve lost five of their last seven games overall, but they will be keen to build some momentum in this one after snapping a three-game skid with a 138-109 road win over the BUcks on Friday. Terry Rozier led the team with 39 points on 15 of 29 shooting, LaMelo Ball added 24 points with 12 assists, PJ Washington had 23 points while Mason Plumlee chipped in with 17 points, 15 rebounds and six assists. As a team, the Hornets shot 52 percent from the field and 20 of 48 from the 3-point line as they set the tone with a season-high 51 points in the first quarter to jump out to an early lead which only grew as the game wore on.
Meanwhile, the Indiana Pacers have been in great shape as they’ve won seven of their last nine games overall and they will be looking to stay hot after beating the Trail Blazers in a 108-99 home win on Friday. Benedict Mathurin led the team with 19 points off the bench, Myles Turner added 17 points while Tyrese Haliburton chipped in with 15 points and 12 assists. As a team, the Pacers shot 45 percent from the field and seven of 25 from the 3-point line as they went back and forth with the Trail Blazers in a really close contest, until the fourth quarter where the restricted the Trail Blazers to just two points in the final 6:39 to pull away and escape with the gritty win at home.
Looking at the betting trends, the Hornets are 5-1 ATS in their last six Sunday games and 0-5 ATS in their last five games following a win. The Pacers are 5-0 ATS in their last five home games, 6-1 ATS in their last seven games against a team with a losing record and 6-0 ATS in their last six games overall.
Head to head, the over is 4-1 in the last five meetings overall and the Hornets are 6-1 ATS in the last seven meetings overall.
The Hornets are still missing Gordon Hayward and Kelly Oubre Jr. while the Pacers are keeping eyes on Jalen Smith and Bennedict Mathurin who are both questionable for this one. The Hornets were absolutely ice-cold before they snapped out of it with a massive win over the shorthanded Bucks in their last outing, but I’m not expecting a resurgence or anything. The Pacers will have to make up for the production of Mathurin if he isn't able to suit up, but they are a solid 5-0 ATS in their last five home games and I think that trend continues here as the Pacers get the win and cover against this inconsistent Hornets lineup.
