The New York Knicks and the Toronto Raptors do battle at the Scotiabank Arena on Friday night.
The New York Knicks have been in fine form as they’ve won 11 of their last 16 games overall and they will be aiming to build on their three-game win streak after sneaking past the Spurs in a 117-114 win on Wednesday. Jalen Brunson led the team with 38 points, seven rebounds and six assists, Julius Randle added 25 points with 13 rebounds and four blocks while Immanuel Quickley chipped in with 15 points, eight rebounds and five assists. As a team, the Knicks shot 47 percent from the field and 10 of 31 from the 3-point line as they jumped out of the gates with 39 points in the first quarter to take the early lead, but they found themselves in a real dog fight and had to close the final 4:10 on a 10-5 run to escape with the narrow win in the end.
Meanwhile, the Toronto Raptors have been in a real funk as they’ve lost 10 of their last 13 games overall and they will be hoping to snap a two-game skid after falling short to the Bucks in a 104-101 overtime loss on Wednesday. Fred VanVleet led the team with 28 points and 12 assists, Gary Trent Jr added 22 points while Scottie Barnes chipped in with 19 points. As a team, the Raptors shot just 32 percent from the field and nine of 46 from the 3-point line as they exploded for 38 points in the fourth quarter to rally back from an early 21-point deficit, only to go ice-cold in overtime where they managed just four points to allow the Bucks off the hook in the end.
Looking at the betting trends, the Knicks are 23-7 ATS in their last 30 road games, 1-4 ATS in their last five games against a team with a losing record and 11-5 ATS in their last 16 games overall. The Raptors are 1-6 ATS in their last seven home games, 1-4 ATS in their last five games against a team with a winning record and 1-4 ATS in their last five games overall.
Head to head, the Knicks are 1-4 ATS in the last five meetings overall and the Knicks are 1-10 ATS in the last 11 meetings in Toronto.
The Knicks are going to be shorthanded again as RJ Barrett is out, while the Raptors are still missing Otto Porter Jr. the Knicks come into this meeting as the team in better shape, but they were far from convincing in their narrow win over the lowly Spurs and they are only 1-10 ATS in the last 11 meetings in Toronto. The Raptors have been playing below their best lately, but they almost took down the Bucks in their last game and I think they can do one better in this spot.
