The Memphis Grizzlies and the Orlando Magic collide at the Amway Center on Thursday night.
The Memphis Grizzlies have been in fine form as they’ve won 12 of their last 16 games overall and they will be aiming for a fifth straight victory after routing the Hornets in a 131-107 road win last night. Ja Morant led the team with 23 points and eight assists, Desmond Bane added 19 points with 11 rebounds and four assists while Dillon Brooks chipped in with 18 points on six of 10 shooting. As a team, the Grizzlies shot 50 percent from the field and nine of 30 from the 3-point line as they jumped all over the Hornets from the start and poured in 76 points in the first half to build a 37-point lead which allowed them to cruise in the second half and rest their starters early.
Meanwhile, the Orlando Magic have been in pretty good shape themselves as they’ve won nine of their past 13 games and they will be looking to stay hot after taking down the Thunder in a 126-115 home win last night. Paolo Banchero led the team with 25 points, eight rebounds and seven assists, Gary Harris and Terrence Ross each scored 18 points while Wendell Carter Jr. chipped in with 13 points, 13 rebounds and two blocks. As a team, the Magic shot 51 percent from the field and 13 of 33 from the 3-point line as they got off to a quick start and exploded for 39 points in the second quarter to lead by as many as 22 points. The Magic were sloppy with the ball as they finished with 16 turnovers, but they dominated the boards and held the Thunder to just 40 percent shooting from the field.
Looking at the betting trends, the Grizzlies are 5-14 ATS in their last 19 road games and 2-6-1 ATS in their last nine games against a team with a losing record. The Magic are 6-2 ATS in their last eight home games, 6-0 ATS in their last six games against a team with a winning record and 10-3 ATS in their last 13 games overall.
Head to head, the over is 6-2 in the last eight meetings in Orlando and the Grizzlies are 2-5 ATS in the last seven meetings in Orlando.
The Grizzlies could be shorthanded again as Brandon Clarke is listed as day to day, while the Magic have ruled out Moritz Wagner and Jalen Suggs with Bol Bol listed as day to day. Both teams are coming into this with plenty of momentum, but there’s just a bit more to like about the Grizzlies at the moment, especially with the Magic missing key players Wagner and Suggs. This should be a close one and the Grizzlies don’t have a good road record ATS, but I’ll back the Grizzlies to get the win here.
