The Oklahoma City Thunder play host to the Boston Celtics at the Paycom Center on Tuesday night.
The Boston Celtics were on a nice run as they had won four games in a row before getting stopped in their tracks by the Nuggets in a 123-111 road loss on Sunday. Jaylen Brown led the team with 30 points, eight rebounds and three assists, Jayson Tatum added 25 points with seven rebounds and six assists while Derrick White chipped in with 13 points, but no other player finished in double figures in scoring. As a team, the Celtics shot 46 percent from the field and nine of 33 from the 3-point line as they struggled to match the urgency of the Nuggets from the start and were always fighting an uphill battle after allowing 37 points in the first quarter. Marcus Smart had a night to forget as he scored just four points on two of 12 shooting while Malcolm Brogdon scored just four points on one of six shooting off the bench.
Meanwhile, the Oklahoma City Thunder have been in a slump as they’ve lost eight of their last 12 games overall and they will be hoping to snap a two-game skid after getting routed by the 76ers in a 115-96 loss on Saturday. Josh Giddey led the team with 20 points and nine rebounds, Jalen Williams added 17 points while Shai Gilgeous-Alexander chipped in with 14 points, six rebounds and five assists. As a team, the Thunder shot just 38 percent from the field and 12 of 36 from the 3-point line, but they were always fighting an uphill battle in this one after getting outscored by 69-43 in the first half.
Looking at the betting trends, the Celtics are 0-3-1 ATS in their last four road games, 6-2-1 ATS in their last nine games following a loss of more than 10 points and 3-7-1 ATS in their last 11 games overall. The Thunder are 7-3 ATS in their last 10 home games, 2-5 ATS in their last seven games following a double-digit loss at home and 1-7 ATS in their last eight games following a loss of more than 10 points.
Head to head, the over is 4-0 in the last four meetings overall, the Celtics are 0-4 ATS in the last four meetings overall and the Celtics are 5-2-1 ATS in the last eight meetings in Oklahoma City.
The Celtics could be shorthanded once again as Robert Williams is currently listed as questionable due to left knee injury management, while the Thunder are still missing Aleksej Pokusevski. The Celtics will be itching to get back to form after having their four-game win streak snapped in their last outing and I think they get it done against a slumping Thunder team who are only 1-7 ATS in their last eight games following a loss of more than 10 points. The Celtics are 5-2-1 ATS in the last eight meetings in Oklahoma City and I think that trend continues here as the Celtics bounce back into form with a big win and cover here.
