The Sacramento Kings and the Memphis Grizzlies collide at the FedExForum on New Year’s Day.
The Sacramento Kings have been in fine form as they’ve won five of their past eight games and they will be aiming for a third straight victory after outlasting the Jazz in a 126-125 home win on Friday. Kevin Huerter led the team with 30 points on 12 of 18 shooting, Domantas Sabonis tallied 28 points with 11 rebounds and eight assists while De’Aaron Fox chipped in with 24 points and 10 assists. As a team, the Kings shot 55 percent from the field and 12 of 30 from the 3-point line as they looked to be in trouble when they allowed the Jazz to go on a 13-2 run to erase their eight-point lead late in the fourth quarter, but they scored the final five points in the final 28.1 seconds to steal the game on a clutch 3-pointer from Huerter.
Meanwhile, the Memphis Grizzlies have been in a bit of a rut as they’ve lost four of their last seven games overall, but they will be aiming for a third straight victory after routing the Pelicans in a 116-101 win last night. Ja Morant led the team with 32 points and eight assists on 13 of 22 shooting, Desmond Bane added 18 points while Jaren Jackson Jr. chipped in with 17 points and six blocks. As a team, the Grizzlies shot 51 percent from the field and just five of 29 from the 3-point line, but they were ferocious on the defensive end which kept them in front until the fourth quarter where they poured in 33 points to make it a blowout in the end.
Looking at the betting trends, the Kings are 17-8-1 ATS in their last 26 road games, 0-4 ATS in their last four games against a team with a winning record and 0-4 ATS in their last four games overall. The Grizzlies are 36-15-1 ATS in their last 52 home games and 5-2 ATS in their last seven games against a team with a winning record.
Head to head, the under is 4-1 in the last five meetings in Memphis, the Kings are 1-4 ATS in the last five meetings overall and the Kings are 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings in Memphis.
The Kings could again be missing Malik Monk who is day to day, while the Grizzlies are still missing Ziaire Williams and Santi Aldama. The Kings have been building nicely, they’re getting healthy again and they just beat the Jazz in a close one on Friday. The Grizzlies have been well below their best lately and they are playing their second game of a back to back set, so I’ll lean towards the Kings to keep this one close and maybe even pull off the upset.
