The Washington Wizards and the Orlando Magic duke it out at the Amway Center on Friday night.
The Washington Wizards have been in decent shape as they’ve won four of their last five games overall and they will be looking to build on their three-game win streak after making light work of the Suns in a 127-102 home win on Wednesday. Rui Hachimura led the team with 30 points on 11 of 13 shooting off the bench, Kyle Kuzma and Kristaps Porzingis each scored 22 points while Daniel Gafford chipped in with 14 points. As a team, the Wizards shot a healthy 57 percent from the field and eight of 26 from the 3-point line as they jumped all over the tired Suns from the start and outscored them by 36-21 in the first quarter to take the early lead, before they held the Suns to just 18 points in the fourth quarter to pull away and make it a blowout.
Meanwhile, the Orlando Magic have won eight of their last 11 games overall, but they will be hoping to avoid a third straight defeat after getting thrashed by the lowly Pistons in a 121-101 road loss on Wednesday. Franz Wagner led the team with 19 points, Wendell Carter Jr. added 16 points off the bench while Paolo Banchero chipped in with 15 points. As a team, the Magic shot just 41 percent from the field and five of 22 from the 3-point line as they struggled to make their shots early on and were always fighting an uphill battle after falling behind by 66-47 going into halftime. Markelle Fultz had a night to forget as he scored just six points on two of 12 shooting while Moritz Wagner finished with just seven points in 13 minutes of action before getting ejected from the game.
Looking at the betting trends, the Wizards are 12-31-1 ATS in their last 44 games against a team with a losing record and 5-1 ATS in their last six games overall. The Magic are 6-13 ATS in their last 19 games against a team with a losing record, 6-1 ATS in their last seven home games and 10-2 ATS in their last 12 games overall.
Head to head, the over is 8-3 in the last 11 meetings overall and the Wizards are 3-7 ATS in the last 10 meetings overall.
The Wizards could be shorthanded once again as Bradley Beal and Taj Gibson are both listed as questionable, while the Magic are missing Wendell Carter Jr, Gary Harris, Cole Anthony and RJ Hampton who are all suspended for one game. The Wizards have really started to turn things around lately with four wins in their past five outings and I think that trend continues here as they take advantage of a depleted Magic team who have cooled off lately.
