The Philadelphia 76ers and the New Orleans Pelicans do battle at the Smoothie King Center on Friday night.
The Philadelphia 76ers will be looking to get back in the win column after having their eight-game win streak halted by the Wizards in a 116-111 road loss on Tuesday. Joel Embiid led the team with 38 points, 10 rebounds and three blocks, James Harden added 26 points with seven rebounds and 13 assists while Tobias Harris chipped in with 15 points, but no other player finished in double figures in scoring. As a team, the 76ers shot 46 percent from the field and just six of 31 from the 3-point line, but they struggled to contain the Wizards early on and just couldn’t get in front after falling behind by 16 points in the third quarter.
Meanwhile, the New Orleans Pelicans have been in fine form as they’ve won 11 of their last 15 games overall and they will be aiming for a fifth straight victory after sneaking past the Timberwolves in a 119-118 home win on Wednesday. Zion Williamson led the team with a career-high 43 points and five assists on 14 of 21 shooting, Trey Murphy added 21 points while CJ McCollum chipped in with 20 points and six assists. As a team, the Pelicans shot 48 percent from the field and 11 of 24 from the 3-point line as they went back and forth with the Timberwolves in a tight contest until they closed the final 2:17 on a 12-6 run to escape with the narrow victory.
Looking at the betting trends, the 76ers are 1-4 ATS in their last five road games, 8-2 ATS in their last 10 games against a team with a winning record and 7-2 ATS in their last nine games overall. The Pelicans are 0-5 ATS in their last five games playing on one days rest and 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games following a win.
Head to head, the under is 4-1 in the last five meetings in New Orleans and the 76ers are 1-5-1 ATS in the last seven meetings overall.
The 76ers could be back at full strength for this game as Tyrese Maxey has been upgraded to probable, while the Pelicans are shorthanded as Brandon Ingram is out while Herbert Jones is questionable. The 76ers were on fire before they got stopped by the Wizards in a big upset on Tuesday, but I think they bounce back here against the Pelicans who are banged up at the moment.
