The Minnesota Timberwolves and the Milwaukee Bucks lock horns at the Fiserv Forum on Friday night.
The Minnesota Timberwolves have been in a real funk as they’ve lost seven of their last 10 games and they will be hoping to arrest a four-game slide after falling painfully short against the Pelicans in a 119-118 road loss on Wednesday. D’Angelo Russell and Anthony Edwards led the team with 27 points apiece, Jaden McDaniels added 19 points while Jaylen Nowell chipped in with 14 points off the bench. As a team, the Timberwolves shot 50 percent from the field and 10 of 29 from the 3-point line as they got off to a solid start and worked hard to lead by five points late in the fourth quarter, only to go ice-cold and allow the Pelicans to close the final 2:17 on a 12-6 run to steal the game on free throws down the stretch.
Meanwhile, the Milwaukee Bucks look to have cooled off a bit lately as they are now hoping to put a stop to a four-game skid after getting beaten by the Bulls in a 119-113 overtime road loss on Wednesday. Giannis Antetokounmpo led the team with 45 points, 22 rebounds and seven assists, Bobby Portis added 20 points and 11 rebounds off the bench while Brook Lopez chipped in with 14 points and four blocks. As a team, the Bucks shot just 37 percent from the field and nine of 44 from the 3-point line as they leaned heavily on Antetokounmpo who carried the team to a 15-point lead in the fourth quarter, only to see the Bulls rally to send the game into overtime where they slipped away in the end.
Looking at the betting trends, the Timberwolves are 2-5 ATS in their last seven road games and 1-7 ATS in their last eight games against a team above .600. The Bucks are 1-6 ATS in their last seven games against a team with a losing record, 5-1 ATS in their last six home games and 0-4 ATS in their last four games overall.
The Timberwolves are still missing some players as Kyle Anderson, Taurean Prince and Jordan McLaughlin are all out, while the Bucks are missing Jrue Holiday and Khris Middleton again. The Timberwolves will be kicking themselves after falling just short to the Pelicans on Wednesday, but they won’t get any sympathy from the Bucks who have lost four in a row. The Bucks are only 1-6 ATS in their last seven games against a team with a losing record and I think that trend continues here as the Timberwolves hang around long enough to get the cover in a close one.
