The Oklahoma City Thunder pay a visit to the Charlotte Hornets at the Spectrum Center on Wednesday night.
The Oklahoma City Thunder have been on a nice run as they’ve won four of their past five games overall and they will be eager to stay hot after blowing past the Spurs in a 130-114 home win on Monday. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led the team with 28 points, six rebounds and eight assists, Mike Muscala added 19 points off the bench while Tre Mann chipped in with 17 points. As a team, the Thunder shot 53 percent from the field and 13 of 24 from the 3-point line as they jumped all over the Spurs from the start and exploded for 70 points in the first half to take a 10-point lead into halftime, before they finished with a flurry of 35 points in the fourth quarter to make it a blowout in the end.
Meanwhile, the Charlotte Hornets have been in a major slump as they’ve lost 11 of their last 13 games overall and they will be hoping to bounce back after falling short to the Warriors in a 110-105 road loss on Tuesday. LaMelo Ball led the team with 21 points, 10 rebounds and four assists, Terry Rozier added 19 points while PJ Washington and Gordon Hayward each scored 14 points. As a team, the Hornets shot just 41 percent from the field and 10 of 38 from the 3-point line as they allowed the Warriors off to a flyer and trailed by as many as 18 points before they rallied in the second half to make it interesting at the end.
Looking at the betting trends, the Thunder are 37-17 ATS in their last 54 road games, 5-2 ATS in their last seven games against a team with a losing record and 4-1 ATS in their last five games overall. The Hornets are 1-4 ATS in their last five home games, 1-3-1 ATS in their last five games against a team with a losing record and 4-0 ATS in their last four home games following a road trip of seven or more days.
Head to head, the under is 6-2 in the last eight meetings overall and the Thunder are 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings in Charlotte.
The Thunder are again missing Aleksej Pokusevski and Jeramiah Robinson-Earl, while the Hornets have ruled out Kelly Oubre Jr and Nick Richards and they have listed Dennis Smith Jr as questionable. The Thunder are coming into this game as the team in better form, they have all their key players available and they just blew past the Spurs in their last game. The Hornets are finally getting healthy again, but that hasn’t yet translated into success for them and I think their struggles continue at least a little longer as the Thunder stay hot with a win and cover here.
