The Phoenix Suns invade the Capital One Arena to take on the Washington Wizards on Wednesday night.
The Phoenix Suns have been in a major slump as they’ve lost eight of their last 12 games, but they will be eager to build some momentum in this one after blowing past the Grizzlies in a 125-108 road win last night. Duane Washington Jr led the team with 26 points and eight assists off the bench, Jock Landale added 16 points while DeAndre Ayton tallied 15 points with 10 rebounds. As a team, the Suns shot 49 percent from the field and 17 of 31 from the 3-point line as they exploded for 42 points in the second quarter to take a 16-point lead into halftime, which ballooned to 25 points in the third quarter as the Suns put the game to bed early.
Meanwhile, the Washington Wizards have been in poor shape as they’ve lost 11 of their last 14 games, but they will be aiming for a third straight victory after outlasting the red-hot 76ers in a 116-111 home win last night. Kristaps Porzingis led the team with 24 points, 10 rebounds and three blocks, Bradley Beal added 19 points with five assists while Kyle Kuzma and Rui Hachimura each scored 14 points. As a team, the Wizards shot 45 percent from the field and 11 of 33 from the 3-point line as they got off to a flyer and poured in 67 points in the first half to build a 16-point lead which proved to be just enough as the 76ers got to within one point with just 2:59 remaining on the clock, before the Wizards made a final push to escape with the win.
Looking at the betting trends, the Suns are 2-9 ATS in their last 11 games against a team below .400. The Wizards are 1-6 ATS in their last seven home games, 39-17-2 ATS in their last 58 games playing on zero days rest and 5-13-2 ATS in their last 20 games overall.
Head to head, the over is 7-2 in the last nine meetings overall, the Suns are 19-9 ATS in the last 28 meetings overall and the Suns are 13-3 ATS in the last 16 meetings in Washington.
The Suns will again be missing a few players as Cameron Payne, Devin Booker and Landry Shamet are all out, while the Wizards will likely be without Bradley Beal are he left last night’s game with a hamstring strain. The Suns were able to upset the Grizzlies last night thanks to a big game from Washington, while the Wizards looked great in their win over the red-hot 76ers who were riding an eight-game win streak. You can make an argument for either side here, but the Suns are 13-3 ATS in the last 16 meetings in Washington and I think they can get the win if Beal is ruled as out.
