The Los Angeles Lakers travel to the FTX Arena to do battle with the Miami Heat on Wednesday night.
The Los Angeles Lakers have been struggling lately as they’ve lost eight of their last 12 games overall, but they will be feeling much better after arresting a four-game slide with a 129-110 road win over the Magic last night. LeBron James led the team with 28 points, seven rebounds and five assists, Thomas Bryant added 21 points with 10 rebounds while Russell Westbrook tallied a triple-double of 15 points with 13 rebounds and 13 assists. As a team, the Lakers shot 54 percent from the field and 17 of 43 from the 3-point line as they set the tone with 33 points in the first quarter to take a 10-point lead into halftime, before they finished with a flurry of 37 points in the fourth quarter to earn the much-needed blowout victory.
Meanwhile, the Miami Heat have been in pretty good shape as they’ve won five of their last seven games overall and they will be eager to stay hot after outlasting the Timberwolves in a 113-110 home win on Monday. Max Strus led the team with 19 points on seven of 12 shooting, Kyle Lowry added 18 points while Tyler Herro tallied 14 points with eight assists. As a team, the Heat shot 46 percent from the field and 13 of 49 from the 3-point line as they got off to a decent start and outpaced the Timberwolves to build a 12-point third quarter lead, before they held on for the narrow win after seeing their lead cut to just two points.
Looking at the betting trends, the Lakers are 1-6 ATS in their last seven road games, 2-7 ATS in their last nine games playing on zero days rest and 0-5 ATS in their last five games overall. The Heat are 4-16-1 ATS in their last 21 home games, 1-4-1 ATS in their last six games against a team with a losing record and 3-7-1 ATS in their last 11 games overall.
The Lakers are shorthanded again as Juan Toscano-Anderson and Anthony Davis are both out, while the Heat are keeping eyes on Bam Adebayo, Jimmy Butler and Gabe Vincent who are all listed as questionable. The Lakers were able to get a much-needed win over the Magic last night, but they were really struggling before that win, while the Heat have been the more consistent performer with five wins in their last seven outings. The Heat come into this meeting as the team in better form, but they have so many players under an injury cloud, so it doesn’t make sense laying this many points. With that being said, the Heat are only 4-16-1 ATS in their last 21 home games, so I’ll take the Lakers with the points in this one.
