The Philadelphia 76ers pay a visit to the Washington Wizards at the Capital One Arena on Tuesday night.
The Philadelphia 76ers have been in red-hot form as they’ve won 11 of their last 14 games overall and they will be eager to build on their current eight-game win streak after sneaking past the Knicks in a 119-112 road win on Christmas Day. Joel Embiid led the team with 35 points on 12 of 22 shooting, James Harden added 29 points with 13 assists while Georges Niang chipped in with 16 points on six of 11 shooting off the bench. As a team, the 76ers shot 47 percent from the field and 12 of 32 from the 3-point line as they struggled to contain the Knicks in the first quarter and leaked 37 points to fall behind by as many as 14 points, but they clawed their way back and eventually won the game in the fourth quarter where they held the Knicks to just 16 points to pull off the comeback.
Meanwhile, the Washington Wizards have been in dreadful form as they’ve lost 11 of their last 13 games, but they will be hoping to build some momentum after routing the Kings in a 125-111 road win on Friday. Kyle Kuzma led the team with 32 points, nine rebounds and five assists, Bradley Beal added 24 points, Rui Hachimura scored 21 points off the bench while Monte Morris chipped in with 16 points and five assists. As a team, the Wizards shot 55 percent from the field and 10 of 32 from the 3-point line as they exploded for 40 points in the second quarter to take a 16-point lead into halftime, which ballooned to 30 points before they took their foot off the gas.
Looking at the betting trends, the 76ers are 9-19-1 ATS in their last 29 road games, 5-2 ATS in their last seven games against a team with a losing record and 7-1 ATS in their last eight games overall. The Wizards are 1-6 ATS in their last seven home games, 6-21-2 ATS in their last 29 games following a win and 5-13-2 ATS in their last 20 games overall.
Head to head, the over is 6-2 in the last eight meetings overall and the over is 4-1 in the last five meetings in Washington.
The 76ers are going to be a little shorthanded once again as Tyrese Maxey is still out, while the Wizards are keeping an eye on Deni Avdija who is considered questionable for this one. The 76ers have been one of the hottest teams in the league, they have Embiid and Harden both playing well and they are coming into this one fresh off a comeback win over the Knicks. The Wizards were absolutely ice-cold before winning two of their past three games, but they looked great in their upset win over the Kings on Friday. The Wizards have looked much better over their past three games than they have all season, but that won’t stop me from taking the 76ers to get the win and cover at this short line.
