The Toronto Raptors play host to the Los Angeles Clippers at the Scotiabank Arena on Tuesday night.
The Los Angeles Clippers have been in great shape as they’ve won six of their last eight games and they will be eager to stay hot after outlasting the Pistons in a thrilling 142-131 overtime road win last night. Paul George led the team with 32 points and 11 assists, Luke Kennard added 18 points while Marcus Morris, John Wall and Norman Powell each scored 16 points. As a team, the Clippers shot a healthy 53 percent from the field and 19 of 44 from the 3-point line as they failed to put the Pistons away and squandered an early 15-point lead, before they rallied back from a 14-point fourth quarter deficit to steal the game in overtime where they held the Pistons to just one made basket.
Meanwhile, the Toronto Raptors have been in a rut as they’ve lost seven of their last 10 games overall, but they will be aiming for a third straight victory after beating the Cavaliers in a 118-107 road win on Friday. Pascal Siakam led the team with 26 points, seven rebounds and nine assists, OG Anunoby added 26 points on 10 of 16 shooting while Scottie Barnes racked up 25 points with 10 rebounds and four assists. As a team, the Raptors shot 50 percent from the field and 19 of 37 from the 3-point line as they stormed out of the gates and exploded for 39 points in the first quarter to take a 16-point lead into halftime, before they made another push in the third quarter to blow the margin out to 26 points.
Looking at the betting trends, the Clippers are 6-2 ATS in their last eight games overall, while the Raptors are 1-4 ATS in their last five home games and 41-20 ATS in their last 61 games against a team with a winning record.
Head to head, the under is 6-1 in the last seven meetings overall, the Clippers are 5-12 ATS in the last 17 meetings in Toronto and the Clippers are 5-11 ATS in the last 16 meetings overall.
The Clippers could be shorthanded again as Kawhi Leonard could sit out a second straight game due to injury management, while the Raptors will again be missing Otto Porter Jr and Precious Achiuwa. The Clippers have been building nicely and they will be brimming with confidence after rallying back from a 14-point deficit late in the fourth quarter to steal the game in overtime, but they will playing on zero days’ rest against an improving Raptors team who haven’t seen the court since their win over the Cavaliers on Friday. You can make an argument for either side here, but assuming that Leonard is back in the lineup, I’ll side with the Clippers in a close one.
