The Los Angeles Clippers and the Detroit Pistons duke it out at Little Caesars Arena on Monday night.
The Los Angeles Clippers have been in fine form as they’ve won five of their last seven games overall and they will be hoping to bounce back after getting stopped by the 76ers in a 119-114 road loss on Friday. Kawhi Leonard led the team with 28 points and five assists on 12 of 19 shooting, Paul George added 22 points while Norman Powell chipped in with 21 points on eight of 13 shooting off the bench. As a team, the Clippers shot 50 percent from the field and 14 of 38 from the 3-point line as they got off to a quick start and dominated the first half to lead by as many as 20 points at one stage, but they never put the 76ers away and it cost them in the second half where they got outscored by 68-51 to allow the 76ers to slip away in the end.
Meanwhile, the Detroit Pistons have been in a real slump as they’ve lost eight of their last nine games overall and they will be looking to put an end to a five-game slide after getting thrashed by the Hawks in a 130-105 road loss on Friday. Bojan Bogdanovic led the team with 23 points, Killian Hayes added 17 points with five assists on seven of 10 shooting while Jaden Ivey chipped in with 15 points and four assists. As a team, the Pistons shot just 41 percent from the field and nine of 33 from the 3-point line as they got off to a great start and took the narrow lead into halftime, but they couldn’t maintain that focus and allowed 70 points in the second half to get completely blown out in the end.
Looking at the betting trends, the Clippers are 1-4 ATS in their last five games against a team below .400 and 6-2 ATS in their last eight games overall. The Pistons are 1-4 ATS in their last five home games, 9-3-2 ATS in their last 14 games against a team with a winning record and 1-4 ATS in their last five games overall.
Head to head, the under is 4-0 in the last four meetings overall, the Clippers are 1-3-1 ATS in the last five meetings overall and the Clippers are 3-0-1 ATS in the last four meetings in Detroit.
The Clippers could be shorthanded for this one as Kawhi Leonard is currently listed as out, while the Pistons are still missing Cade Cunningham. The Clippers were on a strong run before they got beaten by the 76ers in a tough loss on Friday, while the Pistons have continued to struggle this season as they’ve lost their last five games. The Clippers will probably rest Leonard for this one, but I’m sticking with the Clippers to continue their strong form with a win and cover on the road at the short line.
