The Brooklyn Nets invade the Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse to take on the Cleveland Cavaliers on Monday night.
The Brooklyn Nets have been the hottest team in the league as they’ve won 12 of their last 13 games overall and they will be gunning for a ninth straight victory after blowing past the Bucks in a 118-100 home win on Friday. Kevin Durant led the team with 24 points and six assists on nine of 17 shooting, Nic Claxton added 19 points with eight rebounds and five assists on nine of 10 shooting, Ben Simmons tallied 12 points, 11 rebounds and eight assists, while Kyrie Irving chipped in with 18 points, nine rebounds and six assists. As a team, the Nets shot 49 percent from the field and 14 of 32 from the 3-point line as they dominated this one right from the start and never looked in trouble after outscoring the Bucks by 60-47 in the first half.
Meanwhile, the Cleveland Cavaliers have been in fine form as they’ve won nine of their last 13 games overall, but they will be looking to bounce back in this one after having their five-game win streak halted by the Raptors in a 118-107 loss on Friday. Darius Garland led the team with 17 points and eight assists, Isaac Okoro added 15 points while Kevin Love and Cedi Osman scored 13 points each. As a team, the Cavaliers shot 51 percent from the field and 11 of 33 from the 3-point line, but they weren’t locked in defensively and were always fighting an uphill battle after allowing 69 points in the first half to fall behind by as many as 26 points. Donovan Mitchell had a rough night as he finished with just 12 points on four of 16 shooting.
Looking at the betting trends, the Nets are 6-1 ATS in their last seven road games against a team with a winning home record and 5-1 ATS in their last six games overall. The Cavaliers are 15-5-1 ATS in their last 21 home games, 4-0-2 ATS in their last six games following a loss and 7-1 ATS in their last eight games against a team above .600.
Head to head, the over is 5-2 in the last seven meetings overall and the Nets are 0-4 ATS in the last four meetings in Cleveland.
The Nets are a little shorthanded again as Joe Harris has been ruled out, while the Cavaliers are still without Dean Wade and Dylan Windler. The Nets have emerged as the hottest team in the league with their recent success and they will be full of confidence following their big win over the Bucks on Friday, while the Cavaliers were on a five-game win streak before they ran into the Raptors in their last outing. You could make an argument for either side here, but the Nets are the team in better form and they are too tempting as the road underdogs in this spot.
