The Milwaukee Bucks invade the TD Garden to do battle with the Boston Celtics on Christmas Day.
The Milwaukee Bucks have been in pretty good form as they’ve won 10 of their last 15 games overall, but they will be hoping to avoid a third straight defeat after getting beaten by the Nets in a 118-110 road loss on Friday. Giannis Antetokounmpo led the team with 26 points, 13 rebounds and seven assists on nine of 13 shooting, Brook Lopez added 23 points on 10 of 16 shooting while Jrue Holiday chipped in with 18 points and five assists. As a team, the Bucks shot 44 percent from the field and nine of 37 from the 3-point line, but they struggled to keep a lid on the Nets’ starters right from the start and were always fighting an uphill battle after getting outscored by 60-47 in the first half. Jevon Carter had a rough night as he finished with just five points on two of 10 shooting while Joe Ingles finished scoreless on zero of four shooting off the bench.
Meanwhile, the Boston Celtics have been in a real slump as they’ve lost five of their last seven games, but they will be looking to build some momentum after blowing past the Timberwolves in a 121-109 home win on Friday. Jaylen Brown led the team with 36 points, seven rebounds and three assists, Jayson Tatum added 30 points with eight rebounds and five assists, Derrick White scored 18 points while Al Horford chipped in with 17 points and 11 rebounds. As a team, the Celtics shot 44 percent from the field and 13 of 46 from the 3-point line as they got off to a sloppy start and managed just 22 points in the first quarter to fall behind early, but they stayed within striking distance and made their move in the second half where they outscored the Timberwolves by 67-53 to win easily in the end.
Looking at the betting trends, the Bucks are 1-5-1 ATS in their last seven road games, 6-2-2 ATS in their last 10 games against a team with a winning record and 2-5 ATS in their last seven games against a team above .600. The Celtics are 1-4 ATS in their last five home games, 9-3 ATS in their last 12 games against a team with a winning record and 1-5-1 ATS in their last seven games overall.
Head to head, the under is 5-2 in the last seven meetings overall, the Bucks are 3-13-1 ATS in the last 17 meetings overall and the Bucks are 2-6 ATS in the last eight meetings in Boston.
The Bucks are still without Khris Middleton, while the Celtics are keeping an eye on Marcus Smart who is currently listed as day to day. The Bucks come into this meeting as the team in better form, but their confidence took a hit after falling to the Nets on Friday, while the Celtics were in their worst slump of the season before they snapped out of it with a much-needed win over the Timberwolves. You could make an argument for either side here as this should be a close one, but the Bucks are only 3-13-1 ATS in the last 17 meetings overall, so I’ll stick with the Celtics to get the job done at home.
