The Detroit Pistons invade the State Farm Arena to take on the Atlanta Hawks on Friday night.
The Detroit Pistons have been in a real slump as they’ve lost seven of their last eight games overall and they will be hoping to put an end to a four-game slide after getting thrashed by the 76ers in a 113-93 road loss on Wednesday. Jaden Ivey led the team with 18 points, Killian Hayes added 12 points while Saddiq Bey chipped in with 11 points off the bench. As a team, the Pistons shot just 39 percent from the field and a miserly six of 23 from the 3-point line as they allowed the 76ers off to a quick start and just never got into the contest as the deficit only grew as the game wore on.
Meanwhile, the Atlanta Hawks have been in a funk of their own as they’ve lost six of their last nine games and they will be hoping to bounce back after falling just short to the struggling Bulls in a 110-108 loss on Wednesday. Trae Young led the team with 34 points and six assists, Onyeka Okongwu added 18 points with 11 rebounds and five blocks while Dejounte Murray tallied 15 points with five rebounds and 10 assists. As a team, the Hawks shot just 42 percent from the field and 14 of 37 from the 3-point line as they clawed their way back from an early 18-point deficit to take the lead late in the fourth quarter, until the Bulls closed the final 4:05 on a 16-8 run to steal the game at the buzzer.
Looking at the betting trends, the Pistons are 20-8-2 ATS in their last 30 road games and 5-11-1 ATS in their last 17 games following a loss of more than 10 points. The Hawks are 0-4 ATS in their last four home games, 1-5 ATS in their last six games against a team with a losing record and 1-5 ATS in their last six games overall.
Head to head, the over is 11-1 in the last 12 meetings in Atlanta and the Pistons are 7-3 ATS in the last 10 meetings overall.
The Hawks are keeping an eye on Clint Capela who is currently listed as questionable for this one, but they really shouldn’t need him against this slumping Pistons team. The line is a little heftier than I’d like it to be, but with this game being the last one before Christmas, I think Trae Young and the Hawks take care of business at home to go into the holiday season on a high note.
