The Chicago Bulls invade the State Farm Arena to take on the Atlanta Hawks on Wednesday night.
The Chicago Bulls have been in poor form as they’ve lost seven of their last 10 games overall, but they will be looking to build some momentum in this one after putting a halt to a four-game skid with a 113-103 road win over the Heat last night. Nikola Vucevic led the team with 29 points, 12 rebounds on 13 of 17 shooting, DeMar DeRozan added 24 points with five assists while Zach LaVine chipped in with 21 points, six rebounds and seven assists. As a team, the Bulls shot a healthy 54 percent from the field and 13 of 31 from the 3-point line as they looked to be in trouble after squandering an early 10-point lead to trail going into halftime, but they took control of the game with a 36-20 third quarter to pull away and escape with the much-needed victory.
Meanwhile, the Atlanta Hawks have been in a funk as they’ve lost five of their last eight games, but they will be aiming for a third straight win in this one after outlasting the Magic in a 126-125 home win on Monday. Trae Young led the team with 37 points and 13 assists, AJ Griffin added 19 points off the bench while Dejounte Murray chipped in with 17 points. As a team, the Hawks shot 51 percent from the field and 12 of 32 from the 3-point line as they set the tone with 34 points in the first quarter to take the early lead, before pouring in another 36 points in the third quarter to push the lead out to 13 points.
Looking at the betting trends, the Bulls are 1-4 ATS in their last five road games, 1-6 ATS in their last seven games against a team with a winning record and 2-7 ATS in their last nine games overall. The Hawks are 1-4 ATS in their last five home games, 1-4 ATS in their last five games against a team with a losing record and 1-4 ATS in their last five games overall.
Head to head, the over is 4-1 in the last five meetings overall, the Bulls are 7-3 ATS in the last 10 meetings in Atlanta and the Bulls are 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings overall.
The Bulls are keeping an eye on Derrick Jones Jr who is listed as day to day, while the Hawks will again be missing Clint Capela who is still out with that right calf strain. The Bulls were really struggling before their win over the shorthanded Heat last night, but it’s going to be tough to replicate that effort on zero days rest. Neither team have been good for bettors lately, but I’d rather go with the Hawks to get their third straight win in this spot.
