The Utah Jazz and the Detroit Pistons duke it out at Little Caesars Arena on Tuesday night.
The Utah Jazz have been in a rut as they’ve lost four of their past six games and they will be hoping to stop a two-game skid after getting trounced by the Cavaliers in a 122-99 road loss last night. Lauri Markkanen led the team with 24 points on seven of 12 shooting, Jordan Clarkson added 23 points while Walker Kessler chipped in with 11 points, but no other player finished in double figures in scoring. As a team, the Jazz shot just 39 percent from the field and 10 of 34 from the 3-point line as they got off to a sluggish start and were always fighting an uphill battle after getting outscored by 62-44 in the first half. Malik Beasley had a night to forget as he finished with just three points on one of 10 shooting off the bench.
Meanwhile, the Detroit Pistons have been in a slump as they’ve lost five of their last six games and they will be hoping to avoid a third straight defeat after getting stopped by the Nets in a 124-121 loss on Sunday. Bojan Bogdanovic led the team with 26 points, Jaden Ivey added 19 points on seven of 11 shooting while Marvin Bagley and Alec Burks each scored 12 points. As a team, the Pistons shot 47 percent from the field and eight of 30 from the 3-point line as they exploded for 71 points in the first half to lead by as many as 19 points, but they let all their hard work go down the drain in the third quarter where they allowed 44 points.
Looking at the betting trends, the Jazz are 0-4 ATS in their last four games against a team with a losing record, 5-2 ATS in their last seven games playing on zero days rest and 4-1 ATS in their last five games against a team below .400. The Pistons are 9-2-2 ATS in their last 13 games against a team with a winning record and 9-4-2 ATS in their last 15 games overall.
Head to head, the under is 11-5 in the last 16 meetings overall, the Jazz are 0-4 ATS in the last four meetings overall and the Jazz are 13-4 ATS in the last 17 meetings in Detroit.
The Jazz are going to be shorthanded once again as Kelly Olynyk and Collin Sexton are both out, while the Pistons are still missing Cade Cunningham and Isaiah Livers. The Jazz are coming into this meeting in need of a win after getting blown out in their last two games, while the Pistons will be looking for a win after falling just short to the red-hot Nets in their last outing. You couldn’t back either team with much confidence these days, but the Jazz are playing this one on zero days rest, so I’m leaning towards the Pistons to pull off the upset at home in this spot.
