The Brooklyn Nets pay a visit to the Detroit Pistons at Little Caesars Arena on Sunday night.
The Brooklyn Nets have been in red-hot form as they’ve won nine of their last 10 games overall and they will be aiming for a sixth straight victory after sneaking past the Raptors in a 119-116 road win on Friday. Kyrie Irving led the team with 32 points and five assists on 13 of 22 shooting, Kevin Durant added 28 points on 10 of 15 shooting while Yuta Watanabe chipped in with 17 points on six of seven shooting off the bench. As a team, the Nets shot a ridiculous 60 percent from the field and nine of 26 from the 3-point line as they got off to a sluggish start and scored just 19 points in the first quarter to trail by as many as 18 points early on, but they hung tough and poured in 67 points in the second half to steal the game on a clutch game-winning 3-pointer from Irving at the buzzer.
Meanwhile, the Detroit Pistons have been in a major slump as they’ve lost eight of their last 11 games overall and they will be eager to bounce back here after falling short against the Kings in a 122-113 loss on Friday. Bojan Bogdanovic led the team with 22 points, Jalen Duren added 15 points with 14 rebounds while Marvin Bagley and Isaiah Stewart each scored 13 points. As a team, the Pistons shot 45 percent from the field and 10 of 29 from the 3-point line as they controlled the first half to take the early lead, but they couldn’t maintain that pace and let their hard work go to waste in the third quarter where they got outscored by 38-23.
Looking at the betting trends, the Nets are 4-1 ATS in their last five road games and 16-34-1 ATS in their last 51 games against a team below .400. The Pistons are 1-4-1 ATS in their last six home games, 8-2-2 ATS in their last 12 games against a team with a winning record and 3-1-1 ATS in their last five games following a loss.
Head to head, the over is 4-1 in the last five meetings in Detroit and the Nets are 2-5 ATS in the last seven meetings overall.
The Nets are going to be a little shorthanded here as Patty Mills is out with an illness, while the Pistons are still missing Cade Cunningham and Isaiah Livers. The Nets are coming into this game as the hottest team in the league at the moment with nine wins in their past 10 games and they will be brimming with confidence following their thrilling win over the Raptors on Friday. The Pistons have shown that they can surprise a team here and there, but the line is just short enough for me to confidently back the Nets in this spot.
