The Golden State Warriors pay a visit to the Philadelphia 76ers at the Wells Fargo Center on Friday night.
The Golden State Warriors have been in a rut as they’ve lost four of their past five games and they will be hoping to snap a two-game skid after falling just short to the Pacers in a 125-119 road loss on Wednesday. Stephen Curry led the way with 39 points, seven rebounds and seven assists, Jordan Poole added 20 points with five assists while Donte DiVincenzo and JaMychal Green each scored 15 points. As a team, the Warriors shot 46 percent from the field and 14 of 33 from the 3-point line, but their problems were on the defensive end as they just left themselves too much ground to make up after leaking 47 points in the second quarter.
Meanwhile, the Philadelphia 76ers have been in fine form as they’ve won six of their last nine games overall and they will be aiming for a fourth straight victory after routing the Kings in a 123-103 home win on Tuesday. Joel Embiid led the way with 31 points on 10 of 16 shooting, Tobias Harris and James Harden scored 21 points each while Matisse Thybulle chipped in with 15 points. As a team, the 76ers shot 51 percent from the field and 16 of 35 from the 3-point line as they jumped all over the Kings with 80 points in the first half which allowed them to cruise in the second half where they led by as many as 28 points at one stage.
Looking at the betting trends, the Warriors are 6-18 ATS in their last 24 road games, 6-1 ATS in their last seven games following a loss and 9-23 ATS in their last 32 road games against a team with a winning home record. The 76ers are 10-1 ATS in their last 11 home games, 4-1 ATS in their last five games against a team with a losing record and 11-4 ATS in their last 15 games overall.
Head to head, the under is 4-0 in the last four meetings overall and the Warriors are 3-12 ATS in the last 15 meetings in Philadelphia.
The Warriors are going to be shorthanded here as Stephen Curry is out while Draymond Green is listed as day to day. The 76ers have their own injuries as Tyrese Maxey is still out while Furkan Korkmaz is questionable due to an illness. The Warriors have been terrible on the road this season and they’re going to try to win without their best player. Yes, Poole and Thompson can light it up for the Warriors on any given night, but I think the safer play is with the 76ers in this spot.
