The Orlando Magic play host to the Atlanta Hawks at the Amway Center on Wednesday night.
The Atlanta Hawks have been in rough shape as they’ve lost seven of their last 10 games overall and they will be hoping to bounce back after getting destroyed by the Grizzlies in a 128-103 road loss on Monday. DeAndre Hunter led the team with 19 points, Aaron Holiday added 15 points off the bench while Jalen Johnson chipped in with 14 points, nine rebounds and three assists. As a team, the Hawks shot 35 percent from the field and 12 of 37 from the 3-point line as they got off to a terrible start and allowed 35 points in the first quarter to fall behind early and things only got worse in the third quarter where they leaked 40 points to trail by as many as 34 points.
Meanwhile, the Orlando Magic look to have moved on from their ugly nine-game losing streak as they are now gunning for a fourth straight victory after routing the Raptors in a 111-99 home win on Sunday. Franz Wagner led the way with 23 points and four assists, Paolo Banchero added 20 points with 12 rebounds and five assists while Mo Bamba chipped in with 18 points, nine rebounds and two blocks. As a team, the Magic shot 46 percent from the field and 14 of 31 from the 3-point line but this win was about their defense as they held the Raptors to just 39 points the first half to take the early lead which ballooned to 16 points in the fourth quarter.
Looking at the betting trends, the Hawks are 2-5 ATS in their last seven road games, 1-4 ATS in their last five games against a team with a losing record and 1-4 ATS in their last five games overall. The Magic are 4-0 ATS in their last four home games, 5-1-1 ATS in their last seven games following a win and 4-0 ATS in their last four games overall.
Head to head, the over is 4-1 in the last five meetings in Orlando, the Hawks are 7-1-1 ATS in the last nine meetings overall and the Hawks are 3-0-1 ATS in the last four meetings in Orlando.
The Hawks are shorthanded again as John Collins and Dejounte Murray are both out, while Trae Young is currently listed as questionable. The Magic have their own injuries as Jalen Suggs, Gary Harris and Chuma Okeke are all out once again. The Hawks have really been struggling for form lately which is no surprise given the talent they have sitting in street clothes, while the Magic have come to life with three wins on the trot. This is a game where you need to check the lineups before tipoff because I’d back the Hawks if Young suits up, but I’ll go with the Magic if Young sits out.
