The Memphis Grizzlies play host to the Atlanta Hawks at the FedExForum on Monday night.
The Atlanta Hawks have been in a slump as they’ve lost six of their last nine games, but they will be looking to stay hot after outlasting the Bulls in a 123-122 overtime win last night. Bogdan Bogdanovic led the team with 28 points, seven rebounds and five assists off the bench, Trae Young added 19 points with 14 assists, AJ Griffin scored 17 points while Clint Capela tallied 15 points with 14 rebounds. As a team, the Hawks shot 48 percent from the field and 13 of 39 from the 3-point line as they squandered a 12-point lead to allow the Bulls to extend the game, but they made up for it in overtime where Green saved the day with a clutch alley-oop shot at the buzzer to win the game.
Meanwhile, the Memphis Grizzlies have been in fine form as they’ve won seven of their last eight games and they will be aiming for a sixth straight victory after routing the Pistons in a 114-103 home win on Friday. Jaren Jackson Jr. led the team with 20 points, five rebounds and four blocks, Dillon Brooks added 16 points, Brandon Clarke scored 17 points off the bench while Ja Morant tallied 15 points with 12 assists. As a team, the Grizzlies shot 48 percent from the field and nine of 32 from the 3-point line as they set the tone with 34 points in the first quarter to take the early lead which ballooned to 22 points after they exploded for 37 points in the third quarter.
Looking at the betting trends, the Hawks are 12-25 ATS in their last 37 road games and 9-27 ATS in their last 36 road games against a team with a winning home record. The Grizzlies are 36-16-1 ATS in their last 53 home games and 4-0-1 ATS in their last five games overall.
Head to head, the under is 12-5 in the last 17 meetings overall and the Hawks are 5-2 ATS in the last seven meetings in Memphis.
The Hawks will again be shorthanded as John Collins and Dejounte Murray are both out, while the Grizzlies are keeping an eye on Ja Morant and Steven Adams who are both questionable. The Hawks have been well below their best lately, but they will be hoping that their overtime win over the Bulls sparks them onto a run. However, the Bulls are playing their second game of a back to back set against a Grizzlies team who have won seven of their past eight games. Assuming that Morant is able to suit up, I’ll stick with the Grizzlies to get the job done at home.
