The San Antonio Spurs and the Miami Heat duke it out at the FTX Arena on Saturday night.
The San Antonio Spurs have been in terrible form as they’ve lost 16 of their last 18 games, but they will be eager to build some momentum after snapping an 11-game losing streak with a 118-109 win over the Rockets on Thursday. Keldon Johnson led the team with 32 points on 14 of 21 shooting, Tre Jones added 26 points with five assists on 10 of 16 shooting while Doug McDermott and Josh Richardson each scored 12 points. As a team, the Spurs shot a healthy 55 percent from the field and 13 of 36 from the 3-point line as they struggled to get going and trailed going into halftime, before they took control with 39 points in the third quarter to build a 20-point and escape with the much-needed victory.
Meanwhile, the Miami Heat have been in decent shape as they’ve won five of their last eight games and they will be looking to stay hot after outlasting the Clippers in a 115-110 home win on Thursday. Bam Adebayo led the team with 31 points, 10 rebounds and four assists, Jimmy Butler added 26 points with eight assists and four steals while Tyler Herro tallied 19 points with nine rebounds and three assists. As a team, the Heat shot 51 percent from the field and 12 of 32 from the 3-point line as they poured in 36 points in the second quarter to take the two-point lead into halftime, but this was a tight game, and they couldn’t gain separation until they closed the final 7:43 on a 22-15 run to escape with the narrow victory.
Looking at the betting trends, the Spurs are 0-4 ATS in their last four road games, 1-6 ATS in their last seven games against a team with a losing record and 1-9 ATS in their last 10 games overall. The Heat are 3-13-1 ATS in their last 17 home games, 3-8 ATS in their last 11 games against a team with a losing record and 1-4 ATS in their last five games overall.
Head to head, the over is 5-2 in the last seven meetings in Miami, the Spurs are 2-5-1 ATS in the last eight meetings overall and the Spurs are 7-2-1 ATS in the last 10 meetings in Miami.
The Spurs are again missing Keita Bates-Diop and Jakob Poeltl, with Devin Vassell listed as questionable, while the Heat should have almost all of their players available except for Gabe Vincent who has been ruled out. The Spurs were the coldest team in the league before Thursday’s win over the lowly Rockets, but the Heat are a major step up in competition and I think they’ll be too good in this one here. The Heat are only 3-13-1 ATS in their last 17 home games, but they are now healthier than they have been for a while now and I like their chances of getting the win at home.
