The Los Angeles Clippers and the Washington Wizards do battle at the Capital One Arena on Saturday night.
The Los Angeles Clippers have been in a bit of a rut as they’ve lost four of their past five games and they will be hoping to avoid a third straight defeat after falling just short to the Heat in a 115-110 road loss on Thursday. Paul George led the team with 29 points, eight rebounds and seven assists, Reggie Jackson added 20 points while Nicolas Batum and Marcus Morris each scored 11 points. As a team, the Clippers shot 46 percent from the field and 17 of 36 from the 3-point line as they went back and forth with the Heat in a close contest until the final 7:32 where they were outscored by 22-15 as they just couldn’t stop the Heat’s Jimmy Butler who caught fire late.
Meanwhile, the Washington Wizards have been in terrible shape as they’ve lost eight of their last nine games and they will be hoping to put an end to a five-game slide after getting stopped by the Pacers in a 121-111 loss last night. Kristaps Porzingis led the team with 29 points and nine rebounds on 11 of 13 shooting, Kyle Kuzma added 27 points with seven rebounds and seven assists while Jordan Goodwin chipped in with 19 points and five steals off the bench. As a team, the Wizards shot 53 percent from the field and 10 of 29 from the 3-point line as they worked hard to rally back from an early deficit to take the lead in the third quarter, but they couldn’t find their offense when it mattered most and allowed the Pacers to slip away in the end.
Looking at the betting trends, the Clippers are 1-4 ATS in their last five games against a team with a losing record and 1-4 ATS in their last five games overall. The Wizards are 1-4 ATS in their last five home games, 37-16-2 ATS in their last 55 games playing on zero days rest and 2-7-2 ATS in their last 11 games overall.
Head to head, the over is 25-9 in the last 34 meetings overall and the Clippers are 5-1 ATS in the last six meetings overall.
The Clippers are again missing Reggie Jackson and Norman Powell, while Terance Mann is listed as questionable with concussion symptoms, while the Wizards have ruled out Will Barton, Rui Hachimura and Bradley Beal. The Clippers have gone off the boil with four losses in their last five games which is a bit surprising given that it coincides with George and Leonard returning to the court, but they will get back to form sooner rather than later and I think it starts with a win here.
